Wink Tranforming into a ST-King

I'm new to this sight, and hope to share some thoughts about taking an excellent bike and making it into a long distance sport touring bike.
I drove my new B-King home only to start working on the ergonomics. First lowering the foot pegs 30mm (Now I wish I went with 50mm) pulled the handle bars back an inch and a quarter. Then took a sheet of aluminum and made a back rack that replaced the rear seat. Put a Givi mount system on the plate to mount a top box. Thats all I've got to date. Bought rear foot pegs mounts from 08 gsx1000 so I can hang duel pipes and side rack mounting system. Hope they come today. It's not that I don't like the look of the stock pipes its more that I would like to put extra fuel under the tail. Thats the piont I could use some advice where do I go to have a costom tank made? I know that I COULD buy a c-14 or a k1300gt but whats the fun in that, plus they might nought catch me.

Pics... The pegs are MFW and the rack is home made. The GXR rear foot pegs needed an extra 3/16 to match up but was doable. The top box looks odd without the sides, but the rack is key for the rest of the set up.

Nice job with the Givi mount!

It's always nice to have lockable, waterproof luggage when traveling.

The pegs are from Twisted Throttle. I would still like advice about a custom tank for under the rack.

Hey Glazweigan are you going to put luggage on your bike. We all hope you load it with 100 lbs. of gear that might slow you down a bit huh? How have you been? We need to try and ride before winter hits. Wardie

Hi Wardie! It's nice to hear from you.

No luggage.....yet. However, ZG's Givi mount has me thinking. It looks like a pretty clean set up. It's easy to remove as well. I like it.

I went for a ride of about 300 miles on my Buell today(Just think, I own 2 - 2008 bikes that are no longer made. Am I a lucky guy or what?) with another B-King rider. His is the only other B-King I've seen on the road and besides being a nice guy, he does a very good job of riding under control and within his limits. The weather was outstanding and we had a great time.

Btw, I think I've got him convinced to join us next year for Rendez-vous II. My B-King is in need of some company.

I don't know if we'll be able to ride again this year because I'm going to North Carolina on Friday. I'll probably be there at least 2 weeks.......even longer if SWMBO will allow. So, by the time I get back, the weather will probably be "iffy" for riding, unless we get lucky. We'll just have to wait and see.

We can still meet for breakfast or lunch sometime during the "off season", however, even if we have to do it in a cage.

I'll let you know when I get back from NC.

Sorry for hijacking the thread. Now back to your regular scheduled programming.

I's 12 hear this morning and last weekend was cool as well. The windshield was off a 919 and is not to stay for the long term but is welcome for the last fall rides. The top rack and exhaust hangers made the Vstrom side racks eazy to cut down to fit the King.

Nice job there neighbor. That screen definitely isn't ideal for the look, but I bet it keeps the wind off.
