Lean Angle Racing made our inaugural debut in Homestead for the season opener~ It was a great weekend! Some of the guys headed down on Friday for the Track School to get to know the track~ The rest headed down Friday evening and made Saturday mornings practice sessions~ Everyone on the team did great~ We had one rider, #50, low side while coming out of T7(?)~ Rumor was there was oil on the track as two other riders went down in the same location~ Our rider was fine.. except for a little bruising on the leaft butt cheek from sliding across the rumble strips~ The bike wasn't too bad.. mostly scared and broke wind screen (GSXR750) and busted gauge plate~ We  broke the rest of the plastic gauge cover off, re-zeroed the the tach needle and rigged up a Honda screen that worked just fine after a couple of drill holes here and there~ He went back out and after a few shakey corners we found the fork seals had blown~ No problem.. one of our members just happen to have an extra set of forks in his truck~ After getting the blown ones out, the spares in place, and a couple minor adjustments.. #50 was back in business~
Sundays Race Day went off without a hitch~ We had a few top 10 places in the various classes~ One 7th and a couple of 9ths~ Others were 11th, 12th, 18th, and 25th.. respectfully~ Not bad for our first time out~ It can only get better from there~
Here's a few pics of the weekend at...

How was the overall turnout? Looks like I will be doing battle with a few of your riders soon. I will be in Heavyweight. Congrats on a successful weekend. Bruised bikes are easy to fix...Riders on the other hand is a different story.

Look forward to meeting you soon

Marc

The turnout was great, Marc~ In one of the mixed races..EX/AM.. there was a total of 58 bikes on the track at one time~ Quite a few of the races went in two waves~ It'll be great to meet you out there soon...

From a press release issued by CCS Florida:

Eric Wood won the main event at Homestead-Miami Speedway during the CCS Florida region's opening event, without his muffler. Most of the racers entered in the Unlimited Grand Prix event did opt to accept promoter Henry DeGouw's bonus incentive of a higher payout to riders who removed their canisters. The exceptions: Team Desmomaniacs and John Costa's Ducati 996s with their undertail exhaust systems (which are plenty loud enough, even with the mufflers).

Wood led the Unlimited Grand Prix race on his GSX-R1000 after working his way through traffic to get to the front. After only a few laps, he was leading the way for his brother, Jeff, on his GSX-R750. Jim Pihokken finished third on his Prieto Racing sponsored GSX-R1000, just ahead of the Kinetic Motorsports prepared GSX-R1000 of Dave McEnery. Pedro Valiente rounded off the top five on his R6.

Eric Wood ran an undefeated weekend, finishing first in all three of his events. He also won the Unlimited Superbike and GTO races. The brothers Wood gave new meaning to the term sibling rivalry as they turned the GTO event into a two-rider fight for first place. Eric simply dominated the race as Jeff pushed him from behind all the way to the finish. Pihokken finished third.

Florida's own Pedro Valiente dominated the middleweight classes, winning the GTU, Middleweight Supersport and Middleweight Superbike races.
