Definately give Richard a call

Have had a turbo 'Busa since 2007 in Tucson. Ride to Phoenix/Vegas often, bike has over 25,000 miles and Hahn stage 1 turbo since day one. About 6-7 pounds boost, last dyno at 220 RWHP. Haven't had any heat problems, even in summer. Bike gets "roll on" boosts, no drag racing, has a GPS run of 201 mph. Full stock exhaust, no whine and so far, no boost creep. Good luck with whatever you choose. Photo taken at San Carlos Lake in mid July 2009 trip from Tucson. Maybe see you at a Bike Night in Phx...

Yeah thats alot of Pump gas power. I have the Rcc Super Ultra kit on my bike. Mine was tuned only to 18lb as Richard recommends. The tuner actually even pulled 3 degrees of timing from 8k and up for safety. I'm not doubting the 20lb on pump gas with no timing pulled...BUT how do you ride the bike? Quick burst or all out beating the **** out of it down the interstate in 5th and 6th? How long have you had the kit?

I have had my kit since 2004 and have put over 6,000 miles on it. I have a few busas, so I don't ride the turbo all the time. When I do, my favorite thing is big roll ons - I have ridden turbo bikes since 1978 - the rush on top is unbelievable. The bike has seen 200 many times in the street, and although around town I'm pretty tame, I will beat on it through the gears also. Even though its stretched 6 in., keeping it on the ground can be fun! The most I have put to the street so far is 500 HP with C16 - the most violent street bike I have been on. I have a few tricks engine-wise, and even with only a 35R, I was able to top over 600 @ 327, at 38 pounds of boost.
RCC's Ultra kit is the best off the shelf kit I have ever installed, tuned and ridden.

Did you take yours up to 40 pounds boost? I am curious - you are probably pushing 650 rear wheel

Is anybody running the velocity racing stage 1 turbo? If so, what are the pro's and con's of this turbo?

I will definetly give Richard at RCC a call. May have even found a shop here in Phx to do the work. Was at Speedworld last night and there was a couple turbocharged 'Busas running and there motors were built, tuned, and turbos installed at a shop here in Phx by a company that builds 'Busa motors for sandrails. Will check the shop out this week.

Wow sounds like you have a little expierence yourself. Dynoed my bike in Alabama heat and humidity and with stock cams and a 240 rear wheel kit. It laid down 617hp heat soaked. I didn't press my luck after that.

RCC stage 2 with A/A intercooler is what you need....A/W if you budget allows because you could make 350HP on pump gas...If you go with the A/A you can make a safe 320HP or so I would say. Just call richard for sure

617 rear wheel horsepower with a 240 tire is 650 horse!!!

Damn, I dyno all the time and can tell you that a Shinko robs between 6-12 horse on the final numbers, and a 240 easily robs 20-25 . . . even the new Michelin Power One is bad on dyno numbers, somewhere between 10-12.

How much boost was that, 35 or so?

Frank,

Was just wondering why the Power One robs so much dyno hp?I know the Shinko and 240 do because of weight but not sure why the Power One would.

Thanks,
Jeff

You wouldn't believe how sticky that tire gets on the dyno. I'm sure you know a lot of the big horsepower shootout and pro bikes are using this "off the shelf" tire, as are many other drag racers - for good reason. I'll be running this tire instead of the Mickey Thompson next time I go out. As far as the dyno is concerned, you want this tire on the cold side . . .

Haha 40lb but like I said it was back to back pulls starting from 20lb and up. That thing was heat soaked like a strippers ***** at the end of a 100 guy gangbang. I'm running the pirelli diablo and it was like GLUE on those last runs...about dripping off the dyno. Hell it was maxing the speed out on the dyno 200mph or something. It has RC component wheels and they are HEAVY!!! UBER HEAVY. We pulled some timing through the ECU editor for the pump gas tune so it still affected the C16 runs also. Looking back on it I feel fortunate to make that kind of power....I would probably use E85 and try to make the most on pump If I ever tuned it again....I'm done with the 600+HP pulls. It is nice to be able to through in the C16 and go missle down the interstate on 25lb if I wanted to though

Best bet if you have the money is get a system that will get you 350hp intercooled, water injection and large 320cc injectors. Then turn down the boost on when you tune. Shoot for 275-300hp for the street. This will allow you to do more for the future. The tricky part is building your motor and output shafts also. tis wil save you future problems.
