The 1/8th...Man I've had alot going on and I've been lurking but haven't had much to say...I broke my freaking bike...The drive/output shaft sliced that baby off like butter...It's in the shop now should be out next week...My rear end set up was screwed up and I've got my new swingarm ready for install...So everything is coming together...

Damn nice biek and setup. Sorry to hear about the bike breaking, but I guess that is the type of stuff that you have to deal with when you run a crazy setup like that. Good luck with getting back together.

I just saw the post! Been toooo busy.

What happened with the output shaft? I am still running stock... should I consider replacing it now?

Good luck getting things back together...

THE MORE CHANGES I MAKE, THE MORE STUFF I BREAK!!!

The bolt ons that I had were flexing and we believe this led to the breaking of the output/drive shaft...I'm changing the rear and installing afam front and rear with an ape heavy duty shaft 5mm thicker...I've heard that the shaft can be a problem with increased hp but nothing concrete...Also when my man went in we discovered that the front shift fork had wore on the sides...Before the shaft broke the bike had started to slip in 2nd gear...I've found that this appears to be a common problem with busa's after discovering a few post that covered the same topic...Hopefully NE will see this and can add more...

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. What are you using for rear sets? Close ratio?? Should help keep the new forks in good shape. What did you have for clutch, Lock up, heavy springs etc.?? Sounds like the new shaft should take care of the problem.

Hey we all learn something the hard way. Glad you are putting on AFAM front make sure it is chrom Molly and at least Nickel coated steel in the rear. With the amount of HP and torque you have on your bike, anything that can move will move, but you know that.

All in all I am really surprised that the give was in the shaft instead of other spots. I think i t was doing it over 4 or 5 runs until it snapped, would be my guess.

How much hP you pushing now?? Torque?? You may want to gear different, but I think you are fine if I remember correct.

This is why I preach so much about things that can happen. Most everyone (not all) who are selling Turbo systems do not go into the detail. Most take it for granted because they just tear down the bike and make it all over. You did your research very well and still things happen, just like Doc and myself. Now think about the guys who just buy and fly for the first time, some how it just does not seem right. This is why I have lost a lot of faith in many builders.

As you are building don't be affraid to ask Seb at NLR, I know he will give some pointers also. My next bike and system ( and strenghten) is going to be done by NLR complete. I have a ways to go on this one yet though.

Well the good news is your on your way to getting up and going again.

NE...Your on the money again...I have a warning for any of my partners that may express interest in installing boost...Inform yourself and start a problem stash cause your gonna have them...I was also thinking along the same line as you...I really like the busa and the boost and if I can get my money right the next bike I pay to have built will be by NLR...

I agree too. It took me about a year until I could ride mine without feeling a risk of failure! Even now, I am running the injectors at 100% duty cycle at full boost. I got the s2000 injectors and they are at DynoJet awaiting testing...

There is always something, I guess that's part of the fun!

Doc...I have to respectfully disagree with you on this statement...Spending my money at this point has not been fun...It's like NE said if the builders let you know up front that other upgrades are necessary then they have effectively put the monkey on your back, not letting you know kind of leaves you in the twilight zone...What the hell could happen next...That's not a good feeling from where I stand...I want a quality high performance bike with minimum up-keep because I have no mechanical skills, cause if I break I pay...

i think most of the time the guys putting the kits together don't even think about the other stuff, because it comes so natural to them. That is how they test the units and get them to where they wnat. Boom it broke Ok tear it apart and fix it on the road in 2 days. I am seeing more and more of good builders with practical sence stating "Do this for HP no more unless you are racing. "Your bike is running very good if you push it a little more you may have problems etc." Best thing most of us can do is ( Isee more of us doing this) get a hold of someone you can trust and use for a sounding board. Someone close to you so you can try out different things and check your motor everyonce and a while. Everyone is not right all the time, and everyone has a good idea sometimes. I bonce my good ideas off Dave O. He is here near me and I trust his judgement to temper my wants at times and let me go other times. Our boards are great for good advise from others also and that is a long list of people. I agree though from what I see these days more kit builders and builders should give deatails and warnings when they build to exceed new HP limits. Hey people will still want the kits, they may just take care of a few things when they buy and save problems later. Thank god for our board communications.

Let's face it many of us have learned and know certain things not to do. I am thinking of all the newbies who are after the GOLD that can use the extra help before theyshell out the bucks.

NO way Stunnah, I was being Sarcastic!!! I totally agree. I was pis'ed as heck the first year I had this thing... I got tons of $$$ in it, and just now I am starting to feel good about going on a long ride without a failure. I am still a little nervous about how it will run with the summer heat just around the corner.

If I had to do it all again.... I WON'T!

I agree NE... It seems to me that one thing leads to another quickly on these high HP bikes. Run up to boost, may lose a head gasket... lose a head gasket, may lose a piston... need new pistons, might as well add new rods... now higher HP=new output shaft, chain, sprockets... now ya need a billet sprocket cover in case the chain snaps... ya need an intercooler, water injection, etc. etc. etc....

I am hoping I am at the plateau at this point on mine...
