Should I be able to grab the damper in the middle and wiggle it up and down? It seems this would be normal but thought I would seek an experts advice. Thanks.
Yep - perfectly normal. If you note on the clutch side, the threaded mounting pin has a hole in it for a locking pin, but the factory does not install one. I went ahead and installed one, just for fun.
