Thats threaded into the upper fairing brace- no clip. Make sure to use that style of bolt with the deeper shoulder. The right and the left over lap at that point making about a 1/4-5/16th depth before you get to the threads

This should help-its the one on the right, also it's aluminum so its important to start it at the correct angle. If you've messed up the threads-start a regular bolt from the backside and screw it up to clean the threads back up
