Mother Hen here - I'd be very careful in the salvage market. Unless you buying for parts or have real mechanic skills picking up a deal is pretty hard. If it's sound mechanically (also hard to ascertain)and you don't mind riding a scarred up bike you may be ok. But even try'in to pretty up a mechanically sound bike can run into thousands of dollars - fairings, levers, mirrors, etc - in no time...
