They're also the closest thing to the pavement when I'm taking corners. I would prefer to look funny than to drag something that's going to wreck me.
The next thing to touch is the peg itself which folds up so I don't see the problem here. I've scraped up my knee pucks just fine without feelers. If you're taking a corner too hot, the feelers are just going to let you know that you're ****ed a split second before it actually happens
