In the process of adjusting my chain slack, I noticed the following:
The slack in the chain will vary from .75" to 1.25". I measure it, and it is .75". If I rotate the wheel, the chain gets tighter until the slack is .75". I continue to rotate the wheel and the chain loosens up again to 1.25". The chain looks fine, no kinks, always well maintained. The rear wheel is in alignment. The chain and sprockets have 22,000 miles. Could it be the chain tension mechanism?
Tom
