Installing HID Lights

Hey all,

I have a 2011 Busa which I purchased 8000k HID lights for.

I'm looking at installing them this weekend. Anybody have any tips?

Do I have to ake the nose cone off?
Where to mount the transforemrs etc?

Does anybody have pictures of theres behind the cone?

Thanks

I found it easier if you removed the nose piece to mount the transformers but you don't have to. You can just remove your gauge cluster and should be able to get to everything.

I am getting ready to install a low beam for a friend of mine with a 2011, plan to take the inners off and remove the gauge cluster like I did on my gen 1.

If you take the front cowl weather shield off the bottom, you can get to the bulbs from underneath. This way you do not have to bend your hand and arm in unnatural ways.

Thanks for all the tips...

Blanca - Very detailed write up, it makes it easier when you can see the job ahead and visualize.

I'm gonna give it ago today if the missus will let me :) :cheerleader:

I'll let you know how I go and upload some pics afterwards...

Cheers again!!!!

Piece of cake...
I'd recommend changing both though for looks! Don't forget for $10 to get LED Parker lights to replace the standards!

I will upload pics tonight...

OK all done :cheerleader:
I used Blanca's notes to pretty much install my HID's with a few differences as below:

* My globes were different (see pics below) and they didn't require trimming. They were a straight swap over without modifications.

* My connector for the low beam wasn't a straing match up which i gathered Blanca's was. My wires had male connectors to slot straight into the existing female connectors however I didn't like the chance of them coming lose so i cut the factory connectors off (leaving enough wire so they could be reinstalled again if required) and soldiered the new wires to the factory wires. The connectors on the new HID wires are now permanently installed on the bike and they act as the quick release plug. (See pics below).

* I secured my ballasts and resisters identical, not by reading viewing the pictures, but because its pretty much the only place and looked right. After looking at Blanco's I noticed his were the same. So it shows its a good location.

* other then that its all the same and easy to work out as per Blanco describes and they look AWESOME.

NOTE: Remember to go buy a pair of LED lights to replace the Parkers (T10 Connectors) they cost about AU$10-$20 for the pair. See the below pic with the standard globes compaired to the new LED's.

Easier then installing my Scorpio i900R alarm system.
