Connie Got to Stretch Her Legs Today

She got her first good ride in today. A 300 miler.

Left home at 7 am rode the slab to Stockton where I met Steve on his Fizzy. Off to Copperopolis for a quick pit stop, then a short hop over to Jamestown by way of a few back road twisties, a goat trail and a pig trail. Was my first certified pig trail, thankfully short and uneventful.

Once in Jamestown we topped off the tanks and connected with Keith aboard his 03 Blackbird for breakfast. Steve kindly picked up the tab courtesy of a 30 dollar Lotto scratch off winner he purchased at the Copperopolis store.

After much discussion over the free meals, a route was planned for the Mini Dragon, Hwy 49 from Coulterville to Bear Valley. Stopped at the top and got a few pics of the road below winding up towards the top. Once at the overlook Keith decided to call it a day. He is recovering from a badly broken ankle and it was causing him some discomfort shifting. We headed back down the way we came and parted ways with the Blackbird.

The Fizzy and Connie still had lots of life left in their tanks so we piloted them towards Buck Meadows, then Sonora, Angels Camp and replenished the fluids of the bikes and their riders in San Andreas.

The Fizzy rider was still feelin' lucky coming off his Lotto win earlier in the day and he plotted a route to the Jackson Indian Casino. We parted company in Jackson and I headed home via that wonderful collection of twists and turns known as Stoney Creek Rd. I wrapped around Camanche Lake and sprinted to the homestead thru sleepy Ione.

Was another great day on two wheels. The Connie was flawless and I got a good feel for her by the end of the day. Comfy, smooth and gobbles up asphalt almost as fast as Masago. She needs a downshift where the Busa doesn't, but the brakes are unbelievably stronger than the Busa's. More than a few times I wanted to scrub off alittle speed on a corner entrance and just touched the binders slightly and had to drop a gear as the brakes drag her towards a stop instantly.

Sensative, a finger is all that is needed. Will be just the ticket for 2 up and loaded for a long weekend.

Another notable note; the speedo is only off 2 to 3 %. A hundred is indeed damn near a hundred not the 90 as recorded on Masago's speed instrument.
