Anyone know if you can clear coat over buffed up paint that has been restored? Repainting my tail fairing today that has never had a clear coat on it. No help at google.
without more details I'll just comment...if it is a solid color and you have sanded / buffed it...followed by a wax / grease remover...clearcoat would be the next step.
If it is a basecoat that has mica/pearl or aluminium in it and it has been buffed or sanded that step will show sand scratches in the clearcoat + take away from the effect of the mica and aluminium. In that case put 2-3 color coats on the go to the clearcoat.
prep the panel with 1000 grit and clear it. do not just simply spray your clear over a freshly buffed surface. it WILL peel off. Posted via Mobile Device
