This is purely an academic question...... for fun.

Performace wise what is the differene? IE quarter mile times etc. Both totally stock.???

Gen 2 has quite a bit more horsepower from what I have read. That should = better track times than gen 1 busa

this is a trick question, right? The SECOND generation improved upon the FIRST generation. In the hands of the same rider, that rider will do better on a GEN II.

Depends on rider, but gen 2 built upon gen 1 platform....refined....same avid rider on both bikes will post significatly improved times on the gen 2

Anyone know the "official" 1/4 mile times on these. I know they vary a little from source to source.

I have both and I love both equally. The Gen 1 seems to run the twisties far better, the Gen 2 can pick them up and put them down faster then you can say shizzle!

Both will run the rails of anything out there (with in reason). Either way both versions of the bike will leave you with a warm fuzzy!

I have a 2005 with a bunch of mods on it. Performance and aesthetics.
That said I love both. Than gen II rox.... minus the ugly azz with the tumors on each side.:rofl:

From SportRider Magazine

Hayabusa ('08) tested on 4/08 1/4 mile 9.68 @ 148.3 60mph-80mph 2.57 80mph-100mph 2.75

According to Superstreetbike this month;

1999-2000 1/4 mile 9.85 @ 145 mph Top speed 191 mph HP 160 weight 474 lbs
2001-2007 1/4 mile 9.95 @ 143 mph Top speed 186 mph (limited) HP 158 weight 474 lbs
2008-present 1/4 mile 9.68 @ 148 mph Top speed 186 mph (limited) HP 170 weight 485 lbs

To me ABSOLUTLY no difference, since I VALUE my skin and really haven't ever used my Gen 1 at 100% :laugh: . Until then, the looks are the only thing for me and I like the Gen 1 better (maybe ??? because it's paid for and already fixed for my comfort (rear end friendly :rofl: ) :beerchug:

Any Gearing difference between the 1st and 2nd?? HP difference changes? also if theres a difference in HP any guess what my big-bore with 201hp could run?
