Best Oil Filter & Oil

OK after reading this I am confused! The manual says to use 10W-40 4 stroke oil, as far as I know they mean car oil not motorcycle oil. Or is it 4 stroke motorcycle oil? Now my oil of choice is Royal Purple and I'm thinking the one I need is there Max-Cycle 4 cycle oil. I'm assume 4-cycle is the same as 4 stroke so correct me if I'm wrong. As for filters I don't know yet, most of the ones named here I've never heard of.
 
Lots of Psychobike (drag/turbo/nitrous guys) use Rotella-T 15w40, including me, and have no issues.

I've been using factory filters and Amsoil..lots of opinions. The whole thing was confusing and stressing me too. So. I'm just sticking with what has been working for me.
