(mike04busa @ Mar. 25 2007,10:49) dont know him but best wishes, sucks when this happens.
Well it does kinda suck , but what happened to
me is I lived, so that part don't suck.
It very easily could have been the end for me.
So looking at it like that it don't suck that bad.

In fact you might even say I was lucky, like lottery winning kinda luck even.

(BA BUSA @ Mar. 25 2007,08:01) James is BACK on 2 wheels
beerchug.gif
Yep , mine looks like that but no passenger back rest.

Its totally mint, 1992 Nighthawk 750 , 4700 miles on it.

It also has some foot rests on it, they are up high for freeway riding I am guessing. It does have a windshield on it too, kinda like that one.

Welp , today is the day , I am getting on a bike for the first time since my wreck 8/2/06
a friend is going to deliver it to me so I am just gonna round the block for starters,
if that feels right then I am off to the college football field parking lot next to my house
for practice. If it dont feel right then home I come and she gets parked til the next try.

I guarantee my docs would freak out if they heard what I was doing.
Absolutly would not approve!! I think anyways. Hell , they didnt even want me driving a
car. The neuropsychologist even said I should retake my drivers licence test
and that it was a normal thing to do for head injury patients like me.
BUT I got a rig and started driving, even drove to his office and my therapists
and him talked it over and said I was definately good for it.

So yes I have a bike, no I dont have a job yet.
Id have one by now if I lied , ive been honest with
them and the head injury thing kinda freaks em out I think.
I hope to get a call from Firestone Complete Car Care today.
Ive been to 3 interviews their so far, boss said he
was gonna call Fri but I did not hear from him
said hed call either way.

But anyhow I have my resume ready to go , I am gonna keep looking til something comes thu.

Damn I need a new Jacket , my fat ass does not fit in my leather coat properly , my textile jacket was cut off me in my wreck. I am just gonna get a cheapy or used
one that fits for now. After I get back to work the weight will come off.

i have a large fieldsheer thats in good shape i will give ya if it will fit or a large first gear jacket to which is new

say the word and i will send one of em to ya

Wow ozz , that is nice of you but I think I need an XL
ive put on alot of weight.

(TruWrecks @ Feb. 26 2007,20:06) Good to hear it BV.  I've been think about your situation lately.  Do you need help looking for work.  I might be able to get you a few leads North of Everett.  It may mean some driving, but should pay pretty decent.

I'll contact a few of my friends that own shops to see what they are looking for, and when.

Doug
Way to go Doug!

James, congrats on the new ride!!

Well its been awhile since I gave you all an update on things so I figured now
would be a good time.

I am gonna shorten the story but give an overview of several months.

So I got that Nighthawk 750 rode it for 3000 miles or so
and lowsided it in a wet 25mph corner mainly due to the original , old 15 yr old tires. Yes I was sporting it abit so that part is my fault.

Broke my wrist, skinned my knee up, got an MRI and all was good.
Its been about 6wks now and the leg is doing good and hopefully
the cast comes off this week, i'll know Thurs.

Sold the bike, gambled away all that money.
:-) Yep , I love to gamble.
Hey I won my fist Texas Hold-em Tourney a few
weeks ago, my first ever win.

Ok , ive had 2 jobs now , one at a Kia dealership and it
was cool , my first dealership job as ive always
worked for independent shops.

I was there 2 ish weeks and they loved me but I did not love
myself. In short id say I was doing 15% of what id like to be doing
not in just quantity of work but the way things were going.
Diagnostics etc. And id be torquing a wheel down for the 4-5th time
cause I wanted to be sure it was done, there is my short term memory .
I told my boss and he understood and said he did that himself.
But I did not like it.
I got a call from Social Security and they deicided to grant me full
disability payments.
So I left Kia, they want me back when I am ready.
They were very cool to me , I really liked it over there
I hope I can get back.
So now my 1500lb toolbox sits in my living room.

So then last week I got a call from my lawyer, he was sueing
State Farm for medical, this is because it was in Canada.
I dont know the exact details.
Here youd not get too far.
Hell they already paid for my K6 GSX-R1000.
The good news is they got a lawyer quick and pretty
quickly settled.
They have already paid some 22K in bills.
My insurance , Regence Blue Shield paid most of them
but did leave me a small portion on some things.
They also paid my ambulance and med bills in Canada
which was not covered by my medical.
Then they sent me a check for $12,000 or so which is lost
wages, not the full amount but its just a small amount
of disablility for all the months ive been unable to work.
In any case , State Farm rules, I will never leave them
they are good folks.

On the lawsuit, I did get a lowball offer of $50,000.
Lowballing is what they do in these cases I guess . $50K
wont even get close to what my medical bills were.

Ok , as far as how I am, I am doing ok, im working on my head
as much as I can to help with my memory.
There are lots of little tasks and various other stuff I make myself do
to work on it.

Physically I am doing ok except for this new cast and being
a fat slob, yep ive put on 50+ lbs since 9/06 when I began to
remember some stuff.
Its ok , i was a fat kid and have been here before. In 1993
or so I was at my fattest, about what I am now
and I went from 240 to 160 in about 8 months so
I know how to take weight off.
I cant help it, I love to eat and im paying that price now.

Then I started smoking again, had quit 5-6 years back too,
one night I decided to take one off a friend and bam, just like that
I am back on em.
\Quitting the first time was fairly easty cause I wanted to live
, in otherwords I had 2-3 pneumothorax's (hole in lungs) doc
said if I had one more he was gonna have to open me up
and sew my lung up.
So these gotta go with the fat.
Its all good , ive lost weight and quit smokin before.

I still aint healed upstairs, its been 10 months now,
ive gotten alot better so thats good. How much
better will I get in the end , well I dont know that yet
but the brain is a slow healer so in another year or so
I will have a better idea of where I am gonna end up.
Wether I gotta change careers or whatnot.
Bikes? Oh yes , I will ride again as long as I am capable.
That Nighthawk riding was awesome therapy too.
Hell , driving a car is as well, nope it aint the same as it was
before yet but its getting better. Its hard to expain but
its just not the same and I do get abit worried sometimes\
especially night driving. I drive safe and make that my number one
priority. Ive never driven the speed limit as much as I do now.

Ok, that about covers it. You all have an awesome and safe
riding season this year, I hope to be back on 2 to ride with my fellow
riders again sometime in the future.
Take Care everyone! James .

James......so good to hear from you. Rich told me about your lowside. My family and I continue to think about you and wish you the very best.

DD

Thanks DD, damn and MJN's OR ride is coming up fast. I have to chalk that
ride up as my biggest loss as far as riding goes. Rich is comin up for that
sweet ride, I know its gonna be. Oh well I can only hope to be able to
go on MJNs ride next year.
Have a good one DD and get some sweet riding in this year bro!
