A while ago us brits had a defining moment when we were allowed to change the course this country of ours was heading. Against the wishes of the Government, the E.U. and the big greedy businesses, we voted out of Europe. We the people took a stand and said enough is enough.

This morning I woke to the news that the American people had took a similar stand.

For too long the media, banks, big corporations and the people we vote to look after our lives, have taken the common man to the cleaners. They lie, cheat and manipulate to line their own pockets and keep us down.

Hopefully we all have taken a step towards making our countries ours again.

Its a brave new world and I hope our children thank us for what we have done.

Politicians do what politicians do best. our biggest news here was who won the power ball lottery tonight . it reached 44 million dollars and had to be won. one person won it all .BASTARD. it wasn't me.

The biggest liars in the media were losing their minds last night. They all lied and covered for Hillary and now have nothing. I think the intentions of the media here were so obvious that people were able to see through it. First of all, who gets molested by a billionaire, waits a decade to complain, complains during a presidential election(coincidence?) and doesn't go to the police? I think story after story of this nonsense finally showed everyone their true colors. Plus, Hillary is an iceberg. There is so much that people don't know about her and her corrupt practices thanks mostly to the media that refuses to vet information it digs up on Trump and refuses to dig at all for Hillary. How can a group(media) that votes 98% democratic not be biased and how does that group sleep at night when they are a major part of what is supposed to keep government in check.
A huge portion of the country is sick about the outcome and I for one don't think trump was the best republican candidate but what they should be more sick about is the way they were misled so easily by their representatives and the media.

Corruption, establishment frauds, the media, Hollywood, social justice warriors, black lives matter, safe space I'm triggered pansies, politicized DOJ, corrupt FBI, repubicans/democraps, judicial activism, liberalism, socialism, fascism, potential communism, Obummer and the general graft that is our government lost last night. Now we'll see if anything actually changes. There's a chance with Trump, there was zero chance with Hitlery...

Like him or hate him, Trump is not a politician. I wish our country had statesman again, but I fear those days are long gone. I am excited about the next 4 years for our country. Time to get out of this hell hole, bring our military home, and make this country great again.
One thing I can say it was a dirty election campaign . my biggest wonder is whether he can or will keep the promises he made, like building the wall . his biggest challenge now is to unite the country again. Will he stand up to the likes of Putin and China. in my world action talks , bullshit walks. If he can solve the problem in America of the needless gun violence (Mass shootings )especially when your most vulnerable (kids)are the biggest victims . historic sex complaints are nothing new,ask Bill Cosby

It's easy to look at the cherry picked statistics and be misled by the media. What we do have is a inner city violence problem and the vast majority of these inner cities are democratically run cities where they preach til they are blue in the face about gun control. Problem is, gun control only effects the people that are typically law abiding citizens while having zero effect on the young males that are overwhelmingly responsible for violent gun crimes.

^ and the "rural voters" know this...regulating illicit drugs hasn't deterred drug use AT ALL. I've been trying to figure out for years why anyone truly believes regulating guns will keep them out of the hands of criminals...

If there's ONE THING I've learned from this election, it's that social media and memes (no offense to Kermit up there) have RUINED voters' perception of the candidates on both sides. There are those here (*cough* skydivr) that know I was refusing to vote at one time in this election, then I wasn't voting for either of the 2 candidates, but I've spent the last several months researching and fact checking all that we're bombarded with, false info on both sides, usually as a meme, to see through the BS, and I did vote yesterday, for someone I swore many months ago I'd never vote for.

Today, I'm finding out on FB that the memes and misinformation continues in the wake of election results, so I've replied to a few, with fact-checking links and to my surprise, the OP thanked me for the facts and then deleted their thread. It's a damn shame though, that they most likely formed much of their opinion that led to their vote on Nov. 8th on stupid memes and social media. THAT is the world our kids are growing up in, and I've worked hard to tell my kids memes aren't fact, do your research. Social media in general is great for a laugh at times, but beyond that, be smart...

i am sorry your courts struck down Brexit... it only proves the global elitists will not surrender their power. you have our support in your quest for sovereignty and our continued friendship and alliance

So much truth in this thread already.

I wish all people would research candidates beyond what the campaign ads and media says. If more people would have done that during the primaries I don't think we would have had the two candidates we got... That being said I think the American people elected the better of the two choices we had to choose from.

I personally believe that the two party system is outdated and needs to go away. There are good ideas on both sides.

I don't think its the political parties that need changing. What needs to change is how much power the big companies have over the political parties. It happens everywhere there's a Government ... Money makes the laws, rules and has the power and the normal working folk have to take it up the a**.

Take away the back handed bribes, and then the politicians are more likely to do what's right for us and not what's right for BP / Rothschild / Sorus / Murdock Etc Etc Etc Etc.

Unfortunately, Just like Brexit, I can't imaging the big money will allow Trump to stay in power long ... One way or the other ... I hope his insurance covers 'Suicide' .......

And on another note: I 100% agree with TheJwexperience on the Gun control. We in the UK had our rights taken off us many years ago after a school shooting. Every law abiding person lost their rights to their sport. The criminals however didn't give up theirs, and we have the highest gun crime rate we have ever had. Now we have to have more armed Police to tackle it.

The US is the last bastion of Free Speech and personal rights ... Do not let them take it off you. You'll end up like us where it's now an offence to offend someone.

America doesn't have a gun violence problem and kids are nowhere near the biggest victims, you're sorely uneducated about our country and the facts.

The " Mother Jones " Investigation from 1982 to 2016 lists a bleak picture of gun violence in your country, like I said before all I'm hearing is denial

We have MMP with two major parties but at least 5 other minor parties which often will go into coalition with the major parties (Labour & National ). these parties usual bargain for support by getting their own agenda through. we have 122 M.P.s. (member of parliament ), to gain a majority to rule you need to win 56 which is where these minor parties come into play . M.P's are basically those in their electorate i.e. Mt Roskill etc. the term of serving between elections is 3 years. we have had leaders serve 3 terms ( 9 years) and have become complacent and arrogant . which is why part of the U.S. system is good

Your country's total population is a rounding error on ours so of course you'll hear about the US more than others, especially when a corrupt media portrays it only one way. However it does not change the fact that you're still uneducated about the facts as they relate to guns and our country. What guns I have are none of yours or my governments business and is god given right protected by our Constitution in the Bill OF Rights, even then it's an inalienable right and in there to remind politicians the right to do so is not granted to us by a politician and therefore can not be taken away by one.

You might do well to focus on your own government and what you need permission from them to do, like having the right to defend yourself. Don't believe what you read in the news (not denying the shootings you mentioned happened, even if emotional they're not statistically significant to the extent you think they are and no where near the problem with guns) and the next (or first) time you're in America ask a fellow shooter to take you to the range and enjoy what freedom feels like, I'll take you!

And just a parting thought, when the people fear their government it's tyranny, when the government fears the people it's liberty...

The constitution is what what makes America. You could never know or understand what you don't have(freedom). 99.9% here do not have legal access to automatic firearms or (machine guns). And terrorist acts or other violent crimes do happen here just like in other parts of the world. But no matter how much we regulate we still need a knife to cut out steak. And fear will not control our lifes. (https://www.google.com/amp/www.nbcn...ina-knife-wielding-spree-n41966?client=safari)

Have you really done the stats??? We have 240million more people in the us.

as ex military I don't need advice or shown how to use a weapon . I accept that the 5th amendment allows the right to bare arms to defend yourself and family I won't contest that . True the media's role needs to be challenged as to what they report . as they say " don't let the truth get in the way of a good story" is their mantra. when you hear of these tragic shootings all I hear is De java. here we go again . sympathy will eventually run out .

Like I said ,ain't democracy great, It allows people to voice their opinion . freedom and liberty to say what they think. I'll call a spade a spade . You don't appreciate it till you lose it
