532 Sprockets

Does anyone have a source that supplies 532 sprockets THAT THEY HAVE ACTUALLY ORDERED 532 SPROCKETS FROM? Also, does anyone know with certainty that the RK50GSV is in fact a 532 chain? I am aware that they list the chain as a 532 in their marketing literature. I have also seen a post from someone stating that "some Hayabusas shipped with 530s." It seems inconceivable to me that they would ship bikes with two different chain sizes (we're not talking rare dilithium crystals here folks - chains are a commodity item) and a number of their other types use the same type of chain so it would be senseless to carry redundant inventory.

To save some of you the time of a reply, here is some background. I already have a RK532GSV replacement chain that was obtained at a price that could not be refused. Yes, I know that people have switched to 530s. No, I have no interest in doing so. (People are mistaken at looking solely at tensile strength in determining how "strong" a chain is. 532 chain has larger rollers than 530 with resultingly larger surface contact with the sprockets, which distributes load better both for increased strength and decreased sprocket wear.) No, I have no interest in Tsubaki or brand X.

Thanks!

to my knowlage all Busas come with 530 chains
A chain with a number 50 in it like RK50
is a 530 not a 532 a 532 chain is not the correct size and I would not use it.To verify that you have a 530 or a 532 sprocket it will be stamped on the rear by the teeth

No offense was intended to JohnnyCheese and I truly appreciate his advice. I'm just trying to be diligent searching for the right advice. Given how often you see people rendering opinion as fact on some of the messages, one get's a little circumspect; perhaps to a fault.

There are three reasons why I'm trying to get to the bottom of this. First, Suzuki's own marketing literature for the 2000 Hayabusa lists the chain size as 532. Second, my RK chain markings look identical to my RF900's, which is a known 532 build. Third, there has been some traffic on this site stating that at least some bikes have shipped with 532s.

I just spoke with SprocketSpecialists and they too thought that only 530s had shipped to date on 1300R's. They did confirm though that the 532 should be a somewhat stronger chain/sprocket combination. They stated that they would have to custom drill a rear sprocket, but that the front sprocket was a stock item (#5733). It would only be another $15 to custom fab the rear sprocket with a quick 24 hour turnaround. Given the fact that I've got a 532 replacement chain and could pick up a little strength, I'm going to go ahead and convert over and not get too hung up on what originally came with the bike. The pitch and width are the same, only the roller size differs with the 532 utilizing wider rollers.

That is too much hassle just buy a Tsubaki 530 sigma or call RK and get their strong one.532 chain and sprocket my .02 worth is not the way to go too much hassle and chains are very expensive. The one you have now might not be but what about the next one?
You are correct the Lit for 2000 says 532 but it was incorrect the factory does not know what publications is always doing.
No offence taken it is was I would have let you know lol.

I'll check the sprockets, but I think that you are speculating incorrectly about all Hayabusas shipping with 530s. Suzuki used the same chain on the 750 GSXRs in the past and these very clearly were 532s as evidenced by any number of conversion kits to change them from 532s over to 530s.

I know the old 1100's used to come with 532 chains, but I never heard of 750's having 532 chains. JC ??

Well, my Busa has a 530 chain from the factory. In fact the rear sprocket is stamped with 530 just like the previous post said.

My GSXR11 did have a 532 but was changed to a 530 when I bought new sprockets. I was also not aware of 750s with 532s.

hmmm.. I wonder what the 53 tooth rear sprocket would do on the Busa???

Tom... A little perspective is in order here. Johnnycheese is a professional wrench at a Suzi dealer. He has probably worked on/seen more Busa's than any of us. His word has been accurate in the past. I have checked several times.

He's too modest to say the any of the above.

The factory literature also has bogus info on the throttle body Mfg.

Dont believe everything you read, except the part about specifications are subject to change..........
