Default RF-1100 or Corsair V

I used to wear Shoei but they didn't fit right. A large RF700 hurt my forehead and an XL was swimming on me. I have been wearing HJC AC's for the past 5 years. The fit ok, but I want something better.

I would like to spend less, but want proper fitment. Think the Shoei shape has changed in the past years, or should I just spend the money for the Arai?

I've been wearing an HJC AC11 for about 4 years myself...I was at a local shop recently, trying on Arais and decided that the Arai Profile was the best bet for my oblong gourd. I tried on the corsair V which has a more round oval shape (and is also $300 more) and found that I was facing a similar fitment problem as you.

The Profile is an outstanding helmet with many of the same features as the corsair and sounds like it might be the answer if you want to get an Arai. BTW, I wasn't happy with the Shoei's fit either. (X-11 and RF 1000).

I tried the previous version Corsair and seemed nice. Was that for solid? I found about $650 for graphic.

Don't be so worried about brands...first try on everything that you can find brand wise...then narrow it down to the top 3 or 4 that fit the best. Then compare for quality, ease of use, replacement parts and availability...

Arai and Shoei are two of the best, but if they don't fit YOUR melon right...I wouldn't wear one if it was free...

If you gonna go for Arai you have to pick the right shape, Arai makes three shapes, round, mid oval, and oval. Their oval is call the profile, which is for people that have problem on the forehead..... go to the arai website and you'll see samples.... and their head shapes.... The problem is that some people buy arai for the color and design without looking at the shape they are buying, inside each shape they got different models,,,, decide what shape you need looking at their website, then pick the model.....

I did try on the last model Corsair as well as the Vector.

I am curious if anyone has owned an AC 10-12 and switched to Arai, and can tell me which most closely matches the head shape. The HJC does really fit well, but could use more venting and the other things more expensive helmets provide.

I could also just get an FS-15, but I have read complaints of them being noisy. It would save me a bunch of $ though.
