Default Scorpion EXO 1000...

I am thinking about buying this helmet. I have tried one on and it fit very nicely but have not been able to do any extensive riding with it.

Would you recomend it or not?

Good helmet imo, plus you have to love the flip down sun shade. I have one
with no complaints.

I have one also (the Apollo) and like it alot. It is a little heavier than some helmets because of the extra "hardware" but not too bad imo. The built in sun shade and cheek air adjustment are nice usable features. I think HJC has a modular type helmet with built a built in sun shade too if you like those kind!

Had one and loved it. Heavy compared to Arai or Shoei though.

Rode with my EXO 1000 today......SWEET!! It is pretty quiet and the pump makes for a great fit. The flip down visor (sunglasses) is very handy and works well. Liking this helmet...............

How are they for fogging? Does the flip down piece fog up being closer to your face?

I am looking at the 900 modular helmet. It has the same internal sunglass, but also a flip up chin bar. Price is about $280.

Default Re: Scorpion EXO 1000...

I have the Scorpion Exo-700. (5 of them actually) I also have a Shoei X-11 that I also just got this spring. And I have riden with the Exo-1000 for a day to try it out. I also have 3 HJC's 2 CL-SP's and 1 CL-15. (yes I collect helmets )
Now with all of that being said, my OPINION is I like Scorpion helmets. My Shoei is no heavier or lighter than my Scorpions. Yes it seems to fit JUST a little bit better. Does it fit better to warrant another $400 in price? No not for me. My Shoei is louder than my Scorpions but it does seem to flow a LITTLE more air. And then we come to replacement shields. Mirrored shields for Shoei $60, Same shield for Scorpion $35.
So My opinion and it is just that, If you have the money for a Shoei or other HIGH end helmet, go for it. If you are on a budget and want a really good helmet go with the Scorpion, you will not be disappointed. If it is a choice between Scorpion or HJC, go Scorpion. I also am a REAL BIG fan of the Scorpion riding gear. Again, I have many pieces of their gear for me, The little Lady and my daughter also.
Scorpion has very nice stuff and it priced so you can ride with the proper gear and not have to be a lottery winner.
Just my opinion as a rider who wears or has worn different gear and experienced real world riding using it. Mind you I have no idea about track gear since I have not done track riding, this is real world, street riding and commuting.
Hope this helps out someone on the fence about what gear to get on a budget.
