Guys, I need immediate help, please

The other laptop we have, non of the keys work. We can't move the cursor, either. My wife brought it to class and it was working until she got home. Is there a switch or anything that will activate the cursor and the keys? Thanks.

try cold cycle booting it: shut it off, unplug it, pull the battery out for 5 solid minutes, then boot up. also try boot in safe mode - F8 during startup - to see if that helps
