WD-40 is your friend here Soak everything that even HINTS at being stubborn to remove with WD...let it sit for several days with another application or 2 in between. You won't believe how much easier it can make working on old and rusted parts IMO the stuff is magic

On the bearing race, a torch to heat up the swingarm should do the trick. If not a good torch man can heat up the race and cut a groove in it so it will come right out.

You should be able to get a good torch man cheap at a muffler shop.

she's goin' 280 for the frame powdercoat in mirror black.. aussie woman that does the stuff out of her back yard. She said everytime I bring something else, the prices will get cheaper. If i like the job, I'll be sending the swingarm, wheels, chain guard, battery box, and the engine casings for the same treatment. Its one of the only powdercoating places I could find.. and is way on the high end for just a motorcycle frame.. but hopefully the work is as great as the price is high She also degreases and sandblasts before powder coating. She actually took me into the place where she does it and let me some stuff that was just finished.. it looks amaaaaazing.. literally a perfect mirror finish.

That sounds good, but I agree the price seems quite high. If she does good work, though, it may be work it. I think I may be getting closer on getting a project to start.

No, but I will decide this weekend. Have a few feelers out and I think one will snag.

only suggestion I got.. is go with one that has a solid frame and good compression. You can buy everything else and not get too expensive... but if you gotta do frame or heavy engine work.. it makes the build very much not worth it.

Absolutely. Could have had 2 CB750s (mostly complete bikes), 1 CB650 and 1 CB750 motor for $300. Actually gave it some thought because I figured I could make at least one good engine out of the 3 750s and then sell the rest of the stuff. Decided I wasn't sure I was ready for that depth of undertaking and passed.

Yep and if I wanted this to take 2 years to complete I would have gone for it. Could have been a matter of simply cleaning the carbs, replacing a few gaskets and changing the oil to get the motors working, or the problems could have been much worse. I decided that I'd rather have something running poorly to start with.

Still waiting on the frame to return from the powdercoaters.. thought i'c crack the engine to see if it was in need of a complete rebuild. The inside of this engine, is surprisingly clean considering the condition of everything else.

Looks really clean on the inside.
