Mine went out on this last Friday night too. Was playing a game and without warning just froze up. I turned it off and when i pushed the power button back in... 3 red lights. Long story short, after much reading and researching on the web i found this site... http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/repair...-clamp_fix.htm
I followed this tutorial and i had my xbox up and running in a few hours. I followed it and did everything in it. I decided to replace both xclamps since i had the thing apart and didnt want to have to go back and do it again in the future. It seems that the xbox mother board warps due to heat over time. With the high heat warping the board one of the soildered processors becomes disconnected. The xclamp that is supposed to hold it down and keep it connected doesnt supply enough pressure on the prosessor anymore so intervention is required. Replacing the xclamp with screws allows you to tighten it down and overheating it supposedly lets the soildered connections reform and gets you gaming again. I didnt feel like sending my xbox to Microsoft and waiting 4 to 6 weeks to get it back. If you think you want to do this tutorial and have questions let me know.. .throw me a PM or email.

Grip it and rip it!
Same thing here..."3 Rings of Death". We just got ours back today. Problem MUST be bad. When I dropped it off at the UPS office, as soon as I was through the door, the guy asked me "What'cha got there...A 360?" I asked how he knew that. He said they've been getting a LOT of those boxes in lately, and I live in a relatively small town...40,000 people.Originally Posted by BigSkin @ Mar. 03 2008, 10:18 AM
Before you crack it open i bought my xbox 360 2 years ago and got the 3 rings of death 5 days ago i called 1-800-4my-xbox and talked to them. if you have the 3 rings of death they fix it for free. 3 years coverage for 3 years on 3 rings of death. Here is the trick they wont be able to fix it so they send you a new xbox 360 woo hoo.
Fed Ex guy who delivered it back today, echoed the same thing. He knew what it was when he gave it to me..."Here's your 360". How'd you know...."Up 'til about a month ago, we were deliverin' about 10 of these a day. Seems to have slowed down some lately though"
Took 11 days for them to get it back to us....completely free. I thought that was pretty good service

And I thought my first gen X-box was glitchy...........
Just get back and take it to gamestop and trade it for a Elite. The initial problem has been fixed. They usually do not test them so chances are you could get a couple of hundred towards a elite. Oh and do it late before the store closes when they don't give a crap.
Whatever you do don't buy a PS3 but if you feel the need go ahead and trade your Busa in on a hot pink Kawi.

Got a stupid question for you... Is it showing three lights of the ring or all fourOriginally Posted by ArmyBusa08 @ Mar. 03 2008, 8:41 AM
So it finally visited me the other day. Here I am, about to pop in Moto GP '07 and run a few laps around Qatar when it just locked up and died. Restarted it, and there it was, in all it's crimson death glory. So now I don't have an Xbox to play... SAD! I'm debating whether or not I want to crack it open. I just contacted Microsoft by e-mail to see if sending it from over here is even an option. Oh well... guess I have to go buy an Elite system now!![]()
