Some things you look forward to and dream about your entire life and today I took my daughter shooting for the first time. She did great. We spent about an hour just learning the basics, muzzle, hammer, trigger, front sight, rear sight and all the others. Then I had her dry fire them until she got a smooth stroke going. Afterward it was off to the range to kill some poor paper!

Ok everyone take a good look and get a good whiff of something very rare these days.....factory fresh .22 Ammo.

We took the S&W Mod34 .22. This is actually a pretty rare revo in this condition but today is the exact reason I've been storing it for. Perfect gun for a first time. Also took the Ruger MkII .22. And lastly the Beretta 92 9mm just to let her see what things are like.

Very well for a first time ever. We will let it soak for a while and then go back for more.
This was the first time she had ever even heard a gun go off. Afterward she told me she had a deep newfound respect for the power she had just witnessed. At home when she was handling the .22 and 9mm ammo she was a bit in disbelief as I was trying to explain to her the seriousness of things. But even after shooting the first round of .22 she was like wow that was loud! Later after the Ber92 she made comment 'there's no respawning from that!' meaning it ain't COD and you can't just hit X and start over. I think I accomplished my mission in teaching her a vital skill as well as getting her to understand as well as witness guns are no joke.

Awe I wanted to see the video of her shooting a 44 mag! Glad she's interested in shooting, I cant get my only son to get into it at all. Should have had a daughter.

Thoughts on bladed for those not wearing armor

Thoughts are with more practice that can come.
No armor yes one should be ready with weak hand to engage an attacker, maybe palm to the face as you shoot from low hip into midsection. Bladed comes naturally after practice and usual weaver stance. Over time I will show her things like one handed shooting, point shooting, weak hand shooting and all the rest. For now I just want her to get used to the boom! Remember bladed can also expose an unprotected armpit to attack.

They just had a council meeting here and I honestly believe my dreams may come true.
County is going to allocate 150 acres for a shooting sports park. There is talk of 3gun matchs, pistols comps, long distance ranges and oh be still my beating heart.
Hopefully we can get her out on an active range one day.
