Ariel Atom with busa engine 2x

the car is powered by an American-made 3.0-liter Hartley V8 which was originally developed from two Suzuki motorcycle engines.

While it doesn't sound very high tech, the performance is astounding. The entry-level V8 produces 475 hp (354 kW / 482 PS), while the race version has 500 hp (373 kW / 507 PS) and an insane power-to-weight ratio of 909 hp (678 kW / 922 PS) per tonne. With the latter engine, the Atom is expected to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.3 seconds, 0-100 mph in 5.4 seconds, and top out at 200 mph (322 km/h).

To cope with the extra power, the car has been outfitted with a six-speed sequential Sadev transmission (which can handle the 16,500 rpm redline), a revised double-wishbone suspension (with arms made from aerofoil-section chrome-molybdenum tubing), Intrax dampers, Alcon brakes, and X-rated Toyo tires.

The company is finishing up final testing on several prototypes, but the car will go on sale next year. Priced at £150,000 ($231,500 / €182,750), only 25 Atom V8s will be produced.

I'm happy to hear that they are finally gonna produce the V8 version! Love that car/rocket... :beerchug:

lol, the only way to make the atom accelerate faster than a veyron was to add some busa.

I want to see the V8 version in action. I want to see how well the launch control works. That much power in a car with that little weight... The computer will be working severe overtime trying to keep tire spin to a minimum on launch. I still want one.

I guess it's a lot cheaper than putting street tires on an F1 car but I see a lot of similarities between the two..:poke:
