ooooooutrageous!

Had to take my little buddy to the emergency vet this a.m.

I spent all morning and $600 just to have them tell me it is her back/spine which I told them when I walked in. :banghead:

Penny is a fetch machine, it is going to be very hard to keep her sedate.

She's worth every $ though.

Dont tell her she's a poodle, she thinks she's Rotty.

My dog came to me in a dream and told me if his vet bills exceed $36....go ahead and put him down.

Cute Poodle....

I think they know we will do just about anything for our beloved pets nowadays. And the truth is...we will. At least I know I would.

So they might bend you over the barrel a 'lil bit but in the end if we can spend more days w/ them...it's well worth it.

Maybe the current Administration can figure out a way to implement a "Pet Healthcare" insurance plan

our choco lab developed pancreitis, was very sick. lost a lot of weight.
that costed his owner $1200???
he climbs trees lol

i heard there's a tx vet that was getting several calls a week from pet owners wanting him to put down their pet b/c they couldn't afford to feed them.
i couldn't imagine having to look into an animals sad eyes, then killing them

Mr Brown got sick last april, the vet couldn't tell me what was wrong with him. I explained that I was willing to pay whatever it took to make him better, but I don't have an unlimited supply of cash to spend trying to treat things that weren't even the problem. He kept getting worse, on an almost hourly basis, I finally made the decision to put him down. Couldn't stand to see my buddy not able to move. My vet offers housecalls, so they came out and I hugged him while she did the deed. He always hated going to the vet and I didn't want his last moments to be stressful.
Have another dog now, Layla, but I still miss Mr Brown a bunch......

Believe it or not, a vet is just as expensive as an MD. I also have a Poodle, 7 months old (Mutley). He is my third toy poodle (White). My last one was my best buddy or 17 years. I hope Mutley will last that long.

My local vet charges $59 for an office call. Mutley recently got a poke in the eye while playing with another dog. I couldn't see any damage but he was squinting with that eye. I called up the only local animal eye specialist and the fee was $169 for an office visit! I took him to my local vet and the damage was minor. It did however tell me there is money to be made as a vet in the right field!

Sorry about your poodle, they make an exceptional house dog. They don't smell or shed and many will argue the smartest of all the breeds! :beerchug:

the medicine used to treat a pet is the same used to treat people...pretty much. Vets don't have the insurance companies to fall back on. Pet insurance doesn't cover much and is very expensive. Lots of vets will cover "hard luck" cases ut of their own pocket.

But, yes, our pets are worth every penny.

BTW - I'm typing with 1 hand as I feed my parrot Cream of Wheat from a spoon as he sits on my shoulder. Who's training whom?

One of my Aussies had gum cancer 2 years ago, got him all fixed up.

My ex-wife needed a root canal, I had her put down.

My dog has been fighting a nasty bacteria for 2 years now. Three major surgeries already. He's a trooper though. It cost a ton but you do whatever needs to be done. I know some people view them as pets only and don't feel the costs are justified. After 14+ years I donn't consider my dog as only a pet but as a family member. I'll always do everything I can for a family member. Expecialy one that relies on me for everything.

yep.. original reason for selling my first busa was a tumor on the Rotty in the above pictures. Now she's getting a 1700 dollar surgery on her CCL (equivalent of an ACL in a human apparently).. as she's been limping on three legs for a few months. I'd sell just about everything I didn't need to get by to keep her healthy though :)

We dropped $550 at the Doggie Dermatologist for our English Bully on Thursday... And he is still not EXACTLY sure what his problem is...

Between the Dermatologist and the Opthamologist, This dog has more specialists than I do!!

It is always a hard thing to loose a pet. The day that I had to have to of my dogs put down was not a good day for me.

one of my rotts broke his shoulder and had to have his whole leg amputated because of it...so we decided to invite 75 people instead of 130 to our wedding and used the $ saved to fix the dog up...best 2200$ i ever spent..that was 6 years ago and he is still runing around faster then me
