How about a specific, clear explanation of the disciplinary procedure?

Something like this would leave little room for members to question disciplinary actions, or to scream "favoritism" when someone is suspended or banned.

I'll use rules #1 and #3 as examples...


(1) Abusive and vulgar language is prohibited. Any attempt to modify the actual word or convey the meaning of such that is deemed inappropriate by the Administrators and Moderators of this board is prohibited.

1st Offense: 5 Day Suspension
2nd Offense: 15 Day Suspension
3rd Offense: PERMANENT BAN



3) Pornography is strictly prohibited. Content (including photographs) deemed lewd and inappropriate by the Administrators and Moderators of this board is prohibited.

1st Offense: PERMANENT BAN


I should clarify that the punishments listed above are only used to illustrate what I'm talking about. I'm not necessarily making any recommendations for specific actions to be taken against any member. Another member pointed out to me that a verbal warning on the 1st offense could be useful in a situation where someone has committed a violation without intentionally breaking a rule. That could help to find some common ground in the grey area which is bound to exist even with clear-cut rules.

I think the real answer to your question is that the answer itself IS a question....
At what point do we draw a line? In this case the blue crew has done just that by developing a set of simple site guide lines... Pretty good by your own account (given this wasn't an easy task for those members working on it behind scenes) and IMOP sometimes less is better. That's where "Personal Accountability" comes into play; I can't control what others do but I can keep myself in check (Most of the time). That's all any of us can do and together WE can make the oRg the premier bike site for folks just like you and me!

Ks: thank you for the explanation. I guess my frustration stems from the whole "lets clean up this board" idea. That, in and of itself, is something I can totally understand.

I know the emoticons have been here forever, and I agree that they are not offensive. that being said, I never found "a$$" offensive either. I guess I just dont understand how one can be considered offensive and the other cannot.

I'm not trying to make waves here or be difficult by ANY means, even if it comes across that way. I guess I just dont understand why we dont get rid of ALL the stuff that could be offensive.

I understand what you saying. Maybe this will help. No matter what happens on the board, all the admins and moderators work together and collectively make decisions. Your concern about cleaning up everything that could be considered offensive is not an easy task. How far do we go? There is a point that we can go too far. Someone said something other day in a thread about feeling like they have to walk on eggshells. That is not the intent. If something is found offensive, then all the admins look at what it is and the intent behind the issue. We have to use common sense somewhere. If we have a member that makes a mistake one time, and slips up, we have to look at the issue. Usually, this is much different than when someone continually crosses the line. Each situation is different.

I don't like his approach one bit. I think he is being combative and intentionally saying things to disturb the peace. He may be a "cool" guy however he needs to learn his place.

We are actually already discussing how to build on this. I appreciate you posting your ideas. It's a lot to try all at once, so we're starting with the rules, then we'll add to that and be sure to let members know where we are headed. Again, this isn't to make things miserable for our members; we are truly trying to get things back to what most everyone here enjoys, and that's simply a respectful environment. This place is a somewhere for all of us to hang out, if you cant follow the simple rules, then move on, thats that!

The mods and admins dont need to deal with the BS, period! They dont get payed for what they do here, its there time policing this board, so everyone can have a enjoyable place to hang out at! This site has a great wealth of knowledge and wisdom, its aplace to make great friendships!
Its a great family here, with more people joining every day!
I personally dont want to see it go down hill!

There are other sites that, the site rules are more leanent, and if thats what your looking for than move on!

We are actually already discussing how to build on this. I appreciate you posting your ideas. It's a lot to try all at once, so we're starting with the rules, then we'll add to that and be sure to let members know where we are headed. I have been sitting here in silence not wanting to say anything because I am afraid to say the wrong thing and get banned again. That's not what I want and my intent is NOT to argue about the rules. I agree with the rules and in no way would question a Mod's authority to enforce those rules. Eevery time I log on (since gaining my post privileges back) I find that I am having to defend the very reason I was banned. People want to know so they don't make the same mistake that I did. Yes, I posted the letter "f" followed by 6 asterisk marks. THAT'S the reason I was banned. I get PM messages and see post's from people... "That CAN'T be the only reason." Well, It was. I see on here the phrase, "F_____ Old Guys" (spelled with 2 G's), the "f" word spelled with a "awk" and similar things posted all the time... Having said that, I obviously am not understanding the rules. So GIXERHP... It's not that some of us "CAN'T" follow the rules but I for one... am confused as heck! I love this forum, I love the people here and I enjoy logging on every night and seeing Busa people from all over the world come together and help each other out. I just feel at this point that if I open my mouth and say anything to anyone then it will be taken as, "trying to stir the pot," or "questioning a Mod's authority." I have much respect for the Mod's and all the Drama and BS that they have to put up with on a daily basis. If I said anything to upset anyone I am sorry.

All i can tell you is it seem to me that last weekend was just an bad experience for everyone involved! I did not see what went down and nor do i want to know.
The rules are petty clear, language, Pornography, for the most of it, will not be tolerated.
Your posts are not out of line, everyone throws stabbs around here, were adults, if you cant take dont dish it out.

I think this has gotten way out of hand. This is STILL Hayabusa.org and we still have the same members. How about we move on and see how things go from here. We are a Family aren't we? Seems a couple of the recently banned are taking issue with the FOG sticker in my signature from "Biscuit Bash" I have left it there as it was something Don and I cooked up with UncleSteve at Biscuit bash when Lisa and Don made the trip to ride with us..

Sadly, it was the last Bash we got to attend with Don being there... I did not feel it had been used in the vernacular as a profanity or masked as another word in text and posted.. It was a running joke between Rayabusa0818 and the other 50+ members..

Had I expected it to cause trouble because some newbies got pasted and started posting inappropriate postings, getting banned and then slamming the sticker, well neither Don nor myself would have never dreamed of causing issues...

If Doug wants it removed, i will remove it....

I see your point Mr.Bogus but I have to Disagree. The TRUTH is that A bunch of people got carried away with the ***** Button (Hiding Profanity), Maybee because it had been used here before, but Who Cares and GOT BANNED !!!!

Perhaps a Simple Deletion of the Thread and a PM to all those Involved would have Sufficed I SLAP on the Wrist and the Org could have gone on it's Natural Course............. NO BIG DEAL !!!!!!!!!!!!

But Unfortunetly that DID NOT Happen..................OH Well
