520 vs 530 ?

I believe I have a fair understanding about the different sprocket sizes (teeth count) but I don't understand what is the deal with the different chains. Could some one help me, I googled and searched it and I keep coming up with just prices? :please:

A 520 chain is not as wide as a 530 chain and it does not have the tensile strength of a 530 (It will break easier.). The 520 will not fit on a stock Hayabusa sprocket as the Hayabusa uses a 530 chain.

+1. Most dirtbikes run 520's, most streetbikes I've seen use 530's. The distance between pins is identical, but a 530 is wider.

so there is really no point in using a 520 chain on a busa?

well that depends.. if you were an open classed heads up, run what ya brung every last 1,000th of a second counted in a stock or superstock class?? you MIGHT run a 520 as it weighs less and that means it takes less hp to turn... I see a lot of 520 conversions for road racers too...

short side of that game is you get to replace the thing a lot.. both of my 600's have 520 chains and they are skinny little things...

leave the 530 Oring chain on the bike... (stronger the better)
