drunken pilot

This is a video of a performance by a stunt pilot who is, in real life a Delta Airlines pilot. His act at Air Shows is to pretend that he is a drunken spectator who rushes from the stands and jumps in a Piper Cub and takes off without any understanding of how to fly a plane.
The Piper Cub is actually specifically built to withstand enormous stress and has a very powerful engine.
This is actually the most dangerous of Air Show acts because of the low altitude at which the pilot performs. This pilot possesses unbelievable skill, which becomes obvious in the attached video.

id love to know how much fly time hes got, he looks pretty young id venture a guess and say maybe military flying to get skills like that. the plane has to be built like a tank to keep wings on the runway and handle the abuse hes putting it through. ive gotta find more info cause im really wondering more now. crazy lol

I don't think that pilot actually flew the aircraft. It is my understanding he was flagged by a fellow crewmember prior to departure. Still inexcusable.

Looks like they've mounted skid plates on the wingtips. Beyond that, there's really not that much of the routine that looks like it stresses the aircraft that much. Most of the routine is simply a display of uncoordinated flight.

Given the right equipment, some desire, and ten or twenty hours to goof off most commercial pilots could produce a similar routine.
