Help! Starter clutch went bad and now I need to replace the engine?

Anybody have an opinion on this "engine case saver"? Think it would prevent this problem??

It helps but you really need to upgrade the starter covers and gears to make sure it wont happen!

I have an 2002 that has never given me any issues with the starter. Is this issue due to a defect in the starter itself?
