My experience with my POS Hayabusa

When I hear these horror stories, it makes me realize how fortunate we are, who understands all the technicalities and are able to take care of our machines, our own services and repairs.

A Busa is a fine piece of technology, but it is not simple technology and under the wrong hands I guess anyting goes.

Ok there is one bolt on the oil pan that is supposed to have a sealing washer, it of the very back corner of the oil pan, directly under the clutch!

In the second (middle) picture you can see part of the oil pan. You can't see the whole pan but I checked it out and the leak is not coming from the pan. It is clean. The bolt surrounded in pink is the bolt where I think the oil is leaking from. In order to see it clearly, you would need to take the lower fairing cowl off and then crawl under the bike with the top of your head touching the front of the rear tire.

I would wait to spend a ton of money on this bike untill you get it back up and running (healthy) for an extended period of time...........the curse that was placed on your busa may or may not be lifted.

That little bit of oil would not worry me. It is so little your not 100% sure of where the oil came from. This motor you can just ride and not have to worry about it. Also leave the PC3 off of it. A slip on and filter is all you need. It will run forever. The old motor that you have in storage is a parts mule for the current motor in the bike! Good Luck and ride the heck out of it.

x2 on leaving the pc3 tune off OR getting it retuned....you did say you went thru 2 cylinder heads so that might be something to look into...maybe a bad tune

Yeah I agree. It doesn't worry me either when I am riding it in the sense that I feel it is dangerous. It's not spraying out by any means so it's not going to compromise the tires. But it just bugs me because I was hoping to have it back to 100%. The leak has became even less since I first noticed it after the guy put the motor in. It does run great though. It's real strong and sounds just fine. I have already come to the conclusion that I am not putting any more money into it as far as mods or whatever besides regular maintenance. The bike is what it is now. I always tried to care for it the best I could. Here is a pic:

There was not pc or K&N on the bike when the first head went. I don't even know if I had the slip-ons...can't remember. This last time it had the pc w/ tune, slip ons, & filter. The A/F graph didn't look to bad. I actually had it checked by another mechanic after the tune was done. I don't know. Maybe I'll take it off.

just for clarification, i don't know what was wrong exactly with the old motor this time. It is either the head gasket or the cylinder head cracked again. Either way, there was no reason for either to occur.

Sorry, I did not read this entire thread, just your opening scenario...Without going into my experiences too much here, I can say that if you get a consumer affairs specialist attorney, you will win a case that will never get filed in a civil court. I fought a "refusal to cover" case with Nissan re: my twin turbo 300zx throwing a rod....and won it all (when Nissan corporate got my attorney's letterhead letter, they called him and offered 12K, I countered with 18k and settled at 16k). This is common....they resist till the last moment then write a check (atty takes small amount of payoff, make sure you add that to your demands). DO IT! BTW, don't blame Suzuki, ALL corporations and their networks ARE THE SAME. I don't care if it's GM or freeking Bugati. Since that issue eleven years ago, I've owned 2 more Nissans (after I stopped hating them). Raydog

If it is directly under the rear bottom corner of the clutch cover, it needs a sealing washer! Here is the part number,,09168-06023.
It costs a $1.50!

I'm glad you just riding the bike now. I think they are a lot more fun when ridden WITHOUT putting moneyh into them. I left mine stock except for comfort mods (raised handlebars). They run strong and last forever. People have to mod stuff and then they come on these boards with problems. Anyway, seems like your all set now. Good Luck and have fun. A nice looking bike. I too would have gotten an attroney and went after Suzuki plus my attorney costs. But, riding is more fun! Good Luck!

Your opinion of folks aftermarketing their Busas may apply to some without either aptitude nor desire....but don't indict an entire subculture of Busa owners that are in heaven enjoying their IMPROVED upon Hayabusas. It's simply not accurate and a gross generalization. Raydog

I will check the location of the bolt again as soon as possible and install a new washer.

Pictures from the lowest point to highest point. I am 99% sure that little bolt is the culprit. It's kind of weird to me that it would spring a leak there though. Is it safe for me to back it out and put some sealant on it and put it back in? Or is going to start pouring oil out of there when its removed or worse screw something up internally?

NM... didn't read rest of thread before speaking out about gasket washer

Well time will time in the am, i now have a bad motor in my garage!

I will start the tear down in the am!
