Switched power source

Where is a good switched power circuit to tap into ?
I'm going to install a radar detector and where is a good switched power source to tap into. I am going to install a female cigarette lighter plug. I was planning on installing it inside the frame/fairing ( hidden) and running the Escorts ( smart plug, multiple wires that I don't want to splice) under the tank area, but another idea would be to permanently put the socket where I could use it as a permanent accessory port?
What do you think?

You can tap into one of the fuses. Or another option I am considering (NOT a switched power source) is to use the battery tender harness I already have on the bike using this:

I like that design of socket better than the fixed mount socket I have. That style could be tucked away when not in use or fish it back out when needed.

My 1st choice was this hardwire kit with mute button/LED light (bought on ebay) but will probably go with the harness above: ESCORT RADAR SMARTCORD POWER Hard Wire w/MUTE Blue Red - eBay (item 280271314914 end time Oct-15-10 22:24:03 PDT)

P.S. I also have an Escort (Passport 9500ix). Curious what mount you're using? Also, the kit from the ebay seller above gives you the option of getting a wire or fuse tap

Since my Busa is Black/Gray I spray painted the windscreen black ( paint was applied to the inside) I'm going to drill two holes and bolt the suction cup mount to the inside of the windscreen right above the instrument cluster, which will give it protection from rain. I didn't do my homework and I purchased a Escort 8500, I am going to sell it and get an Esort 8500 x 50 since it has the POP Radar in it. I like the release button on top of the Escorts so I can pull it off in a hurry if I am going to park the bike for a while. I will purchase that smart cord as soon as I switch units.

I bought my plug kit from an Auto store and just ran staraight to the battery with a fuse and the positive wire. Works great. The lighter kit was like $6 and the fuse was like $3.

If you already have the battery tender harness, then I say add the adapter anyway. I also bought a cig lighter splitter so that I can run both the GPS and radar detector off one plug
