We call it The Grand Tour.

Where everything is Grand. As in monumental. The view. The roads. The food. The lodging. Tall order.

Well then ride along...

Gopr_1_0041.jpg

We had a special treat on this ride. As in we had Kevin with us who's a videographer and filmmaker. We'd be shooting film all weekend using GoPro HD's and constantly experimenting with angles and shots.

The goal is a new film about the Pashnit Tours and also the capabilities of the GoPro HD.

We should have the film ready by the within 2-3 months and debuted at the International Motorcycle Show.

So a special thanks to 4theRiders.com

The Pigeon Point Lighthouse south of Half Moon Bay

Dsc01799_lighthouse.jpg

Perched on a cliff on the central California coast, 50 miles south of San Francisco, the 115-foot Pigeon Point Lighthouse, one of the tallest lighthouses in America, has been guiding mariners since 1872. Its five-wick lard oil lamp, and first-order Fresnel lens, comprised of 1,008 prisms, was first lit at sunset, November 15, 1872. The lens stands 16 feet tall, 6 feet in diameter, and weighs 8,000 pounds. It sits in a lantern room that had been constructed at the Lighthouse Service's general depot in New York before being shipped around the Horn. Although the original Fresnel lens is no longer in use, the lighthouse is still an active U.S. Coast Guard aid to navigation using a 24 inch Aero Beacon.

"e-homies"? YOU guys are MY e-homies

As ususal Tim, beautiful. One of these days.....

you ever make it to southern oregon tim? there are some beautiful roads up here that make me wish i drug my bike up here.

Spending time along Hwy 1 Big Sur Coastline. Inland 90 degree temps create the fog - temps in the high 60's.

Ride even 1/2 mile inland or go even 500 feet up and temp goes up 20 degrees.

Matt, I've ridden the Oregon coast and also the Crater Lake region. Very nice. Big fan of lighthouses and you guys have some really picturesque ones along the Oregon coast.

Don't hold back I know you got more :poke:

edited were all of those bikes owners or were there some rentals ??? I think flying out there and renting maybe more cost efficient than trailering them there.

Manny, we get a little bit of everything, although most riders are own their own bikes. On this ride, just the BWW K1200S was a rental. Hana flew in from Toronto for her 2nd tour this season.

She has the K1200S as her personal bike back in Canada and rented the same bike twice. There is an outfit in Southern California that deliver a bike whereever you want it and pick it up for you.

WeRentMotorcycles.com is Jack. Motorcycle Rentals and Motorcycle Tours USA / Canada toll-free +1 888-849-4098 international +1 949 579 9422

Normally rentals run about 100-150 per day. WRM runs more like $200 a day but the riders are willing to pay for the huge convenience of having the bike delivered to them.

Hana's rental from WeRentMotorcycles.com. About the closest thing to the Hayabusa that you can rent.

Looks 2B a great flick Tim! BTW, I'll be doing a 4 day with you again at the beginning of your 2011 season. Looking forward to it. Doyle

Later on...yes, it's waterproof too.

Still a wee foggy, but that's the ocean over there.

Doyle, the 5 riders we had on this tour (two returning, three new) had such a great time over the 4 days, they all agreed to a pact they'd all come back to the 4-Day Memorial Day Tour in the end of May next season. Might be half full already. ;) ;)

It takes all kinds to make a Motorcycle Tour.

Joe is on his third ride this season and owns a Redwing store the Bay Area.

Dsc01880_joe.jpg

Kevin, our vidoeographer works for Apple and was sent to us by 4theRiders to begin working on a full length film about the tours. To debut at the International Motorcycle Show in November. Mary on her heavily modified SV was a RN awhile back but still in the health care field.

Marco is an Italian living in Munich, Germany. He's here in the states working on his post-doctoral degree in Astronomy. That, and a little bit of Particle Physics.

His primary work is the search for Black Holes. Really.

Dsc01816_marco.jpg

Hana is an Israeli who emigrated to Canada. 30 yrs in Israel, you wouldn't know it, but she was an Artillery Officer in the Israeli Army. Back in those days it compulsory military service right out of high school. Being ex-military myself, that was an interesting conversation. Now she does Commercial Interior Design.

The goal is one of the Southern Sierra's best hidden gems. Rd 23S16.

If you are a subscriber to Pashnit's California Motorcycle Roads, click here:
Road 23S16, The Road with No Name | Pashnit.com

Dsc01912_Rd23S16.jpg

The view at 7500 ft.

If you look closely, you can see a thin line at center.

That's Sherman Pass as it climbs out of the Kern River Valley and heads towards Nevada.
