The Busa on Film

Spent a day with a film crew over the weekend & we all headed out to the coast to spend all day Saturday riding Skaggs Spring Stewarts Point Rd. They are working on this for the Sonoma Co Tourism Board with a working title of "Ride the California Wine Country", but intend it to be a full length 45 minute film about the Sonoma Napa region with an emphasis on what a great riding area this is! Their general idea though is to make a full-length pilot and then pitch the idea to the Travel Channel or something like the Discovery channel.

I'm more of a photo nut so I don't know much about film or that whole job field so this a chance to spend a great day riding & let them do their thing to accommodate the shots they needed.

In November, they shot all the pre-footage to begin working on the film. You can meet Cat MacCleod & our local riding area in this video:

Headed out to the coast on a rainy day. But blue skies were predicted for the following day. Lucky. Can't shoot in the rain.

Loaded up and heading out. Brought my wife and three kids along on this one.

These ball mounts are for mounting the GoPro HD Video Camera in about 7 different places on the bike. Either mirror, the bar end, two on the right exhaust hanger. Two more on the grab rail mounts.

Oberon pegs. The trick to these is the ends are rounded so when you hang off, ball of your foot goes right on the tip. Works great!

The music maker. See the ball mounts?

Next location has us riding of the shadows and zipping across the bridge

Every time they set up a new location, they've got to recalibrate the cameras with these white balance cards. Don't know much about these professional quality HD cameras, but that's how they do it.

While they're setting up the shot, we've got a bit of down-time until they give the go ahead for the next take.

I had to ask what one of these camera's cost.

Cat said about $6000. Full kit with the accessories was about $10K total.

Why Skaggs Spring Rd is so famous is local riding circles.

In the distance to the north, the peaks were all covered in snow!

Shooting a little GoPro Hi-Def video too!

Wondering what the footage looks like?

Here's some video stills from the GoPro HD camera mounted on the front of Cat's bike as he follows me up to the hill to the camera crew.

Don't ever let anyone tell you it can't turn.

If your talking about the Vimeo link video its awesome.
Brought back mems of The Nashville Network and the style shows they used to do.
The clarity was excellent.
Is this video shot with the 6k camera you show us ?

More Freeze frames from the GoPro HD.

Cameras on both sides of the road as we zip past multiple times. Ride past, u-turn in the road and do it all over again until they felt like they got the shot.

Again... Don't let anyone ever tell you it can't turn.:laugh:

Finally, Lunch in Healdsburg. If you watched the pre-footage in post #1, their film is as much about Food & Wine in the Napa Sonoma region as it is about the local riding area.
