Pics of my weekend headlight makeover

What I have done was retrofitted a stock hayabusa projector assy
into the reflective bowl. I blacked everything out. And I used a trick of
bending the inner cut-off shield in the projector to extract more colour.
so i can attract more attention to myself with dazzle.
I utilize a stock reflector bowl so that i can still use the aiming
controls. Hids in both projectors aswell.

thanks guys! tonite i will give the shot of the original projector i have
only modification to that one is to position the flood area, as it was opposite
in stock form. my bending the shield slightly, I sacraficed a straighter cutoff
for more colour at the cutoff, and really different colour output overall.
worth the trade. not to mention without aiming, both projectors were almost
spot on same position, i just have to slightly lower them both

You should get with Ogre and compare notes. You both have similar ideas.....

nice did he make a post here, or already done it?
i've fathomed the idea of retrofitting a projector in for many years
but now that i had to open up the headlight, i took the time lol
i wanted to use an Acura TSX projector or S2000
but i found the stock was adequate enough though.
Ive done the same with other housings for cars.
but it was trial and error. i was content not to fail
with this one lol. But i love the blacked out look in it

it looks nice man, but please let me know how you like it while driving at night.

Cheers

oh yes sir, i love it night riding or day riding.
im seen more easier.
i made a post before how i modified the highbeam projector
internally, and used it as low beam. the flood of light is superb.
tons better than stock. also ditching the reflector bowl setup
its TONS better light output, hid or not. light is projecter where it should
and not scattered every direction

If you don't mind; How do you get the headlight apart like that? It appears to be all plastic welded together or something. :dunno:

its epoxy resin,
using an oven to place the light assy in, low heat say 200 or so
works best, quicker, but more dangerous as you would have to be
carefull not to damage the soft clear plastic by oven rack print,
or even fingerprint lol.

this time i used a heat gun, spot heated where the casings meet
and presto. pry until they come apart. safer, but slower this method

Link to one of Ogre's posts here. Shoot him a PM, great guy to talk to.

nice link, i checked it out, wish i hadn't lol
it reminded me that i need an actual hid project vs halogen.
damn! lol they are a lil expensive, i like the free route i went
but has not the intensity, range of a proper projector.
thanks alot lol now i have to hunt!

looks good man. all you need are some bixenon projectors and 55w power and you've pretty much maxed the lumens. i built my own shroud, but i really like yours. would've thought the insides would be kandy red tho. i'll toss up some snaps when the new paint is done. white with white pearl, even on the inside of the headlight. give me a shout, i've got a direct line for some factory HID parts, LED's and ccfl setups too. to you

Man, this is what the .Org really rocks in...bike lovers helpin one another out...how cool is that? 2hip

That's a nice look you got there. Thanks for sharing the pics with us. How long did it take you to complete everything?

Very nice mod.. giving me some ideas. Mine headlight is currently running high beam only, but with the snow still on the ground, I will have time to fix it.
Thanks for the pics, it looks sweet.:beerchug:

Hey OGRE!
yes the bi's are nice, I installed them on a mustang gt 2007
pretty slick if u need the brights feature. i chose black because it matched the
best with the bike. and i am a fan of blacked out anything! espcially headlight housings.
im curious to see what you are cooking up!
Thanks on the heads up with your source on the parts too bro
i would like to know what prices you have for say kits, and turn signal bulbs etc
i always like to do custom things.
