The RNC and this whole situation is just plain ridiculous

So I've watched about an hour total of the last days of the Republican convention. I watched some of Christie and now watching Ryan speak. The whole Hollywood produced stage show is just stupid. I'm sorry these guys are reading concocted speeches prepared by a group of brainiacs that don't have a clue what it's like to have to provide for yourself. It's like a state of the union address. Talk and cheer and clap, silence, squint into TelePrompTer, read a bit, look to other side, read from TelePrompTer, clap cheer.
:puke:
Colin Powell knows how to do it.
Six tips for a great speech from General Colin Powell | Creativity_Unbound

I realize speech writers have been preparing for Presidents for decades if not centuries and all this broadway acting is just a progression of technology but is there not a single person who can orate to an audience true honest fresh from the heart thoughts? Nobody? Look left, read, look right read, breathe, repeat. Ryan spent over forty five minutes blaming Obama for all the things he said he would do and hasn't and blasting him for all the things that have happened bad under his term. Blame blame blame and then hypocritically blame Obama for blaming bush. What a bunch of frigging finger pointers :banghead:
Every single speaker all they did was blame blame blame and point fingers at the current administration for all their faults. Oh and then at the end Ryan says 'we can do this, we can do this, me and mitt' rah rah rah.
:puke:
Nobody not a one ever anymore anywhere omits his opponent and simply highlights themself?
Nobody :dunno:

I am becoming very cynical toward this whole process. The more I think about it the more I think the whole thing is fixed. Outcome already known. Electronic voting everywhere, no stub, no actual real record of your vote. Then your supposed to trust the programmer/s for the counting machine are unbiased. 60 minutes had the students from MIT I think it was that showed how they could skew the count simply by inserting a different card than the one the registrar gives you. Neither side, neither choice is worth two doodoos to me and neither is gonna change a damn thing.

(steps down off soapbox, rant over)

I hear ya. I'm from Illinois.............I hate all political hacks. :moon:

Lamb the general populace does vote because by voting they are instructing their elector to cast a vote for a particular person. I'm not sure I want a simple most votes wins because the northeast and California would control every election.

They are speeking to the masses. If you watch Facebook, you'll soon realize that is the level of the majority of the American population. No personal responsibility. Blame someone else. Criticize success. Side with the person who says what you want to hear. Don't make any effort to validate anything. Sorry State that's been created. The more the Government regulates us into to being their domesticated pets, the worse it's going to get. Try to have people to take responsibility for themselves and you are a hater.

Come on Blanca, it's politics!

You think you were bored with this one, make a pit stop at the DNC Convention where you will hear a constant chant of "Four more years" until your ears bleed. However, the DNC slogan will be hyphenated by "Bush got us into this mess" followed by "Four more years"!

We tend to hear what we want to hear depending on our predetermined mind set.

I can't wait for your response. After the DNC convention of course

No, the DNC Convention will be even worse, because they will look the camera square in the face and talk about how great Obama's done these past four years - and if we'll just give him four more he'll fix it even better....

You know, if I was the target audience I would be offended at some of the speeches, I mean they keep saying things that are easily shown to be simply not true or only partly true leaving out many of the facts, I just don't get it ??? well actually I do, they just throw it out and hope some of it sticks but do they really think people are that dumb that they can't simply verify what they are saying :banghead: and that goes for any politician regardless of party affiliation.

Yeah Tuf I'm with Keith on this. The Ministry of Truth will speak right to their side and do their best to convince them he's doing a great job. Even with all the Republican roadblocks look what he's accomplished!!
Is how it will go. He won last time, most if not all I know who voted for him then are most DEFINTIELY going to vote for him again. I personally don't know a single person who's left his side and is considering Mitt?
What got him in last time will gain him the office again and that is his great speech writers and his ability to present it. Like it or not him and Clinton can say it well.
What I look forward to are the debates. I want to see how 'strong' Mittens appears and performs next to the big O. I don't know why but I just feel like there are some sex pics deeply hidden of Mitt wearing women's loungerie with his wife softly whipping him? The eyes give it away and everytime he turns to answer a question the look on his face is like "Is this gonna be the time it comes out? Does he know?"
Maybe just me but I just can't 'like' him? Where's the 'maybe' tab?

Ronbo I miss ya buddy.....rip

Republicans are socialists, Democrats are communist, the American variety, but still they fit the mold. They put the interest of their party first, every time, and the constitution second or worse. I think they should be investigated by the FBI under the RICO statute. Pay to play, money laundering by campaigns and parties, kickbacks to the parties, K street (the whole dam street are racketeers), influence peddling, both parties are responsible and play the game, the democrats are more public about it because they have slightly lower IQ's and are not as savvy as the repubs but are both guilty. Its organized crime if I ever saw it, Boss Tweed redux on a national scale. Our country will be going through real change when the national credit card is finally maxed out, which will be sooner rather than later. Our kids are fkd, we will be the first generation to leave the next worse off. I hope the money runs out before baby boom generation dies off and they get the treatment and social security they deserve, the most selfish and irresponsible generation in our history is trying to leave the next with insurmountable debt while they live off borrowed money in their retirement years, I really hope the bulk are around to face the consequences of their unfettered socialism and irresponsibility of the last 50 years.

On a better note, I have confidence our kids will learn from this pathetic experiment in socialism and take care of business, the longer term future is brighter but it will be very tough for my kids generation. Perspective on the negativity I write above I have to say America is better off than the rest of the world and always will be, our problems are small, fixable, and within our control to fix, the rest of the world does not have that option.

One more thing, they should outlaw teleprompters, let joe citizen (pick by lottery) ask the questions during the debates, now that would be reality TV hehehe.

Soooooooo, what you're saying is that it's "politics as usual"? Say it isn't so!

If a politician is talking, he/she is lying, I don't care which side of the fence you're on. I do like Condi though; always have so much respect for her...sorry I missed whatever she said, but hey, it's a political convention. I'd rather watch paint peel

Condi did a dang fine job last night. I want to see Ryan put Smokin Joe on the mat!

Mitt did alright. Even though it was scripted he delivered it well.

I find it strange he nor anyone for that matter mentioned the military?

The sad thing is that there was a Republican congressman/senator from the Midwest (Missouri?) who was recalled because he "was willing to work with the Democrats". Really? How does anyone expect anything to get done if people don't work together? Have your line in the sand that you won't cross but you have to be willing to compromise. Believing anyting else is foolish and dangerous. That's what's gotten us into the mess we're in. It doesn't matter if Obama or Romney or whoever is in the White House has a wonderful idea that would honestly fix something, members of the other party will not support it for no reason other than it came from the opposition.

Until that changes, nothing will ever get better and I don't see any hope of it changing in the near future. If the Republicans win control this time, something will happen and they'll lose Congress to the Dems in 2 years, then we start the whole thing over again from the other side.

It's unfortunate that Clint Eastwood is just too old to be given an open mike and ad lib. It totally broke the flow, which had been built up with the Movie (well done btw) and had to be restarted by Marco Rubio. Also was the prime-time spot (movie and Mitt would have been better). Clint's the man, but he's better off with a script and a camera and some editing.

Rubio's got heart, but he's not as polished as Ryan. Great speech nonetheless.

Mitt did just fine. While the speech was carefully prepared (of course) he managed to mix emotion and show his family values, humanizing him after the Dems have tried to make him into a heartless bast*&d, which should comfort some of the undecided voters. He did spend most of his speech being extremely positive (and we all know there's some hard facts we have to face), that's what acceptance speeches are SUPPOSED to be. He delivered it well, and I felt real emotion from his story. It's a LOT more of an american story than that of Barry Sotero, and a lot of voters will resonate with that.

I think his real test will be when he's debating Obama, not to get frustrated or let it show that Obama's getting under his skin. BE PRESIDENTIAL. Lastly, don't EVERY apologize for making money and being successful, that IS the American Dream that EVERY American aspires, it's just some that are insanely jealous and envious.

Here's the debate:

OBAMA: You made too much money on the backs of others, you are the 1% filthy rich and therefore are not qualified to understand the needs of the underprivileged masses...

ROMNEY: SO WHAT? My parents and grandparents emigrated here without a pot to piss in, and they MADE THEMSELVES WHAT THEY ARE thru hard work and aspiring to the American dream. I KNOW how to make money, and I'll help all American's with the same work ethic and desire to achieve do the same! That's what being an American IS. You claim I made my fortune scamming off the backs of others; yet you made your current position without EVERY HOLDING A REAL JOB...and on government, taxpayer-funded programs...by the way by lying on your applications so you could claim 'underprivilieged' status...So WHO really made their way on the backs of others? YOU did, Mr. President....
