Obama is exactly right.

Obama says we are in a catastrophic situation with the economy and that it will take a long time to recover. He's got that right with this huge porkulus package and no tax relief for business and investors. We are headed for hyper-inflation and no growth. With government running banks and auto manufacturing and reducing principle on mortgages and making responsible tax payers pay for it all. He is exactly right we are in a world of hurt.

It will start to improve once the people that voted for a socialist government realize that the only thing they will get is a life of servitude to the people they voted for. A few years after that people will begin to miss freedom and rebel against the system that is in place. After many years of suffering enough people will rise up and successfully over-throw the government.

All of that will be delayed for an undetermined time when China invades and kills anyone who doesn't accept Communism as the norm.

A life of servitude? WTF? Obama is trying to fix a very evidently broken system that has been in place here for a very long time. If you don't agree with his way of getting us back on course, fine. Our freedoms are not being restrained. If you would like the financial institutions to continue to do business the way they have been, please prepare for more of the same. Same for the auto industry. Once a world leader, it's in shambles and needs a swift kick in the butt. President Obama is delivering that kick. This plan looks very expensive at this time. Obama is one of the few that is looking at this in a 5 to 10 year period. Give it time. You really have no choice, since you are outnumbered

pouring money into the whole is not going to make the US auto industry viable...it is not going to make thier product better, they will still be paying the UAW workers far to much....

we poor billions into schools and they still suck.....money does not solve all problems.

Whenever freedom is reduced in a nation it becomes more vulnerable to tyranny. Obama probably not competent enough to be a despot but may open the door for someone who is.

I've worked for GM for 31 years. The present product is much better, but the focus has been wrong. The most popular hybrid has been the SUV, the thinking being that GM could positively effect the logistics industry, but they shot themselves in the foot on the retail market, as people searching for hybrids aren't commonly SUV drivers. This isn't a question of money, or ingenuity, it's a question of focus. The UAW issue needs to go to the Supreme Court.

All I can say is . I know what Socialism is. Obama is not a Socialist, and he is WAY more competent than you give him credit for. The last part of your statement; yeah, modern life's a *****, but none of those issues have been changed as a result of the the Obama Administration. Those thousand hoops have been around; I know quite well as my wife is an entrepreneur deluxe. I don't imagine that there are many members here that know more about starting small businesses than her. Debt is very definately bondage. The current situation, in Obama's view, needs overhaul. The end effect, according to his plans, are reduced debt. You claim to have a crystal ball about how his plan will go, while I see value in it. This conversation will prove nothing until things play out.

there is a lot of blame placed on management of both GM and UAW, and someof it just wrong. sure they built gas guzzlers, and it is currently PC to bash them for it...but we wanted those gas guzzlers, we bought them until the gas and financing dried up...

yeah i understand the UAW is there to protect people, but if that protection costs the company too much and cause them to go bankrupt...who are you protecting?

i think leadership on both sides is inept and needs to be fired....
