The operator purposely danced the lidar beam around on the target. Lidar requires a very steady hand. Looks like a scam and big waste of $$. Don't take one into the states they are banned. You will lose it and pay a hefty fine.

Laser jammers are illegal in Nebraska, Minnesota, Utah, California, Oklahoma, Virginia, Colorado, Illinois and Washington DC

Radar Jammers are illegal by Federal FCC Law, Laser Jammers are not, as "light" is not controlled by the FCC.

Local laws can't make it illegal to have a Laser Jammer based on the band of light. TV sets and stereo remotes use a band of light that overlaps LIDAR. The loophole they use is "device cannot interfere with police speed measuring equipment" and such. If your vehicle is not registered in that state they can't confiscate it, but you can get a ticket.

California law:

Jamming: Electronic Speed-Measuring Devices

28150. (a) No vehicle shall be equipped with any device that is designed for, or is capable of, jamming, scrambling, neutralizing, disabling, or otherwise interfering with radar, laser, or any other electronic device used by a law enforcement agency to measure the speed of moving objects.

(b) No person shall use, buy, possess, manufacture, sell, or otherwise distribute any device that is designed for jamming, scrambling, neutralizing, disabling, or otherwise interfering with radar, laser, or any other electronic device used by a law enforcement agency to measure the speed of moving objects.

(c) Except as provided in subdivision (d), a violation of subdivision (a) or (b) is an infraction.

(d) When a person possesses four or more devices in violation of subdivision (b), the person is guilty of a misdemeanor.

(e) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a person who has a valid federal license for operating the devices described in this section may transport one or more of those devices if the license is carried in the vehicle transporting the device at all times when the device is being transported.
Added Sec. 1, Ch. 493, Stats. 1998. Effective January 1, 1999.

Tim, count me in....I just had a prime example of why I need one:

I was running 90mph and came around a bend in the Interstate and my Vector 975 Dectector goes off.........(very unusal as I usually get a warning before I'm in sight) I clamp down on the brakes. There is a car in front of me in the slow lane that I'm hoping the Gun is pointed at. I see the tropper sitting in the median, half mile or so away. I really expected to see him pull out after me, but I must of got it down to 65 before he went from the car to me. Whew that was close.

Two things that came to mind very quickly:
1. If I was going any faster, (usually ) there's no way I could have slowed down in enough time before he picked me up....maybe could make down from 120 to 80+/-
...but no way 65!

2. If the Tropper waits to see you before they hit you up with the gun...there's no warning and Detectors can't do anything for ya!

So Tim what's the time frame for this Group buy?
Also I have the Belltronics Vector 975...but I didn't see that specific unit Interface option on your "buy now" drop down list....the first video in this thread list the 975 as an option and as I understand it the Interface just puts the Dectector signal into your helmet via the vizalert...right?

Not illegal in Ks

The new M27 has been performing nicely...
and they work as advertised! BUT, the weak link is still the rider. Your helmet reflects lidar so keep your head down!

Waterbug....
Where did you get your M27 if they just got in-country?
Also got any install photos?

....and in regards to your "keep your head down" comment, if the new M27 is as good at jamming the signal from the LOE gun as they claim, how come your helmet would make any difference? Tim..what do you say about this?

Hi Barry, the first batch that arrived in the US from Scotland is sold out. Another batch is due into the US in about 3 weeks I'm told which will be the 2nd shipment. The Blinder components are manufactured in Holland, hand-assembled in Scotland (the motorcycle kits), then shipped to & distributed from Arizona.

So we're eating into that 2nd batch now. As for how long on the GB, a loose answer would be until we get past the bell-curve of interest on those that might want one. Laser Jammers are legal in 40 of 50 states so possibly there are others that might want to take advantage of the GB pricing.

On the Pashnit Tour this last weekend, one of the fellas was a sheriff deputy from Vancouver, WA and we got to talking about these. His comment was their department has pretty much gone exclusively to LIDAR guns. Another interesting note he made was the LIDAR guns are really good for measuring distance. So what the LEO's do is stand on bridges, and measure following distance between two cars, if they are too close, they ticket the offending car for tailgating. Don't even bother ticketing for speeding, a ticket for tailgating is the new thing since the LIDAR guns so easily provide that reading.

Barry, this one I need to double check as the Cheetah Buy Now page on the PashnitMoto site is a mirror of the CheetahUSA site, however, it's likely some of these components are so new, CheetahUSA has not updated their site yet. It's probable that the new video linked above supersedes the CheetahUSA site as that's the latest info on the new M-27 Rider.

I know on the VizAlert, they did add the Beltronics RX65 Radar Detector of compatible radar detectors to the list that will work with the VizAlert. So they are up to 5 different radar detectors that will work with this. I've asked about why they don't make it work with all radar detectors, but from Cheetah's perspective, they've made the VizAlert work with the most popular detectors on the market.

Will find out.

Barry, in regards to what Sonny is mentioning, if you get into the simple physics of how a LIDAR gun works, it shoots out a beam of light that is pulsing at certain rate. However, it's a very narrow beam and has very little dispersal as compared to a Radar gun that is shooting out an actual wave of microwave energy.

LIDAR guns have to be 'aimed' for that very reason, which is why you see in all the pics, the LEO is aiming it via the sights. Also the reason why you always see them standing on the side of the road, or locally, they'll be standing beside their motorcycle on the side of the freeway just over a rise.

On a car, they are aiming for a flat spot on the front of the vehicle, typically the license plate. On a motorcycle though, there isn't much of flat anything, so a LIDAR gun gets aimed at the headlight of the motorcycle. Or as Sonny alludes, a riders visor since that and the headlight are likely the few flat spots on a bike.

Our sheriffs deputy over the weekend on the pashnit tour also said motorcycles are somewhat hard to focus in on as opposed to a mini-van or truck which has lots of front flat surface area. Obviously, they can get a speed reading with a bit of practice was his comment, but it's a huge difference from pointing the LIDAR gun at a cab-over semi coming at them vs a small bike.

Meh, just paint the bike and gear in non-IR reflective paint. Oh wait, that's military grade paint.

You can also change the headlights to a projector style. That makes the target much, much smaller to aim at.
