Thought I would post this topic matter up. I've had 3 inquires just this week about purchasing new chains and sprockets for the Busa so I'm sending some orders in right now for sets. It's winter for many of you (Here in California, it's sort of winter ) so inspecting your chain is a good suggestion as the riding season approaches. As soon as you detect that your chain is stretched, it should be replaced. The way you can tell is put the bike up on the rear stand and rotate the tire with your hand. Now watch the chain tension. If it varies widely- some spots are tight, others are loose, chain is stretched and you should replace. If your chain creaks like a rusty hinge, replace. ![]() It's common to replace the sprockets with your new chain as these two items wear together. If you inspect your sprockets and you can visually see deformation in the tips of the teeth, replace your sprockets. Stock gearing setup & stock chain length is: Gen-I is 17/40 & 112 links. Gen-II is 18/43 with 114 links. If you replace your own, you should also invest in a Chain Tool. Posted these in a different thread, but here's swapping mine. Got questions or time for a swap, post up or pm me. ______________________________________ PashnitBusa.com --> Parts & Accessories for your Hayabusa Questions? I have 21K on my orginal chain and sprockets. I clean and lube them every 500-1000 miles and they are still good. I use the bike for touring only, no track . How long should they last?
