So, I've always assumed that running even a small shot would instantly void my warranty. Is that actually true though? If I ran enough to pick up 20 or 30 HP, would it really be any different than putting on a pipe and remapping?

I think I know what my dealer would say if I called to ask. Maybe what I'm really thinking about is if it would be ethical to set it up so I could easily remove everything to be sure there wouldn't be any issue. I know people talk about doing that with exhaust all the time but I guess juice is probably pushing it.

Thoughts?

Yes, so if you have some problems, remove the kit BEFORE you take it to the dealer.

Umm, Remove it if you like after you detonate a perfectly good motor making more power than your using anyway. Then wheel your Toasted bike to the dealership for warranty repairs... Then Hold on cause they are going to be laughing their asses off.

The use is going to be pretty obvious, even if you do not have any sign of an install, your motor doesn't lie and the mechanics I work with would recognize it the moment things start coming off the bike. Yeah, no warranty work for you...

having nitrous on your bike will NOT void your warranty.

read the magnuson moss warranty act. the federal law states in a nutshell that a dealer cannot void your warranty for use of non oem parts and accessories unless they can prove that the said part was the casue of the failure that you are trying to have repaired under warranty.

now with that said. if you have a bottle strapped to your bike and you roll into the dealer complaining that your brakes are not functioning. they must repair your brakes (provided your warranty covers such item) regardless of that bottle strapped to your side since there is no way that nitrous could have caused your brakes to fail.

on the other hand, if you waltz into the dealer with an engine problem where use of nitrous (or any other item such as a turbo or even a bolt on exhaust) could ahve cuased exsessive strain on failed components then you may have some problem arguing that it was not the cause of the nitrous that made it fail. however under federal law, the dealer still has to show proof that said aftermarket accessory was the cause of the failure.

at any rate, it is not advisable to roll into the dealer for warranty work on the engine with any signs of a nitrous system on board as it will be tough to argue with them that nitrous did not kill my motor.

What he said! Anytime you start boring, stroking, NOS, etc., you are adding a load onto the entire power train that it was never designed to handle. The rods, bearings, crank, pistons, clutch, chain, hell even the sprockets. You'll feel the effect when a piston goes through your crotch.

Hey Revlis, are you using tin foil to read my head again?
