Question tuning nos?

am looking at buying a busa with nos and was wondering if there is any tuning that needs to be done for the nos to work right?

and if there are any things i might wana keep an eye out for that could cause me problems the seller might not mention or now about?

Generally having a good nitrous tune is critical. A stock motor can generally survive the stupid things we do to our bikes, but a spray motor can go bad quickly if its not set up right. The bad news is many dyno operators still won't run spray on a dyno, and most guys on the street never have them tuned. Remember, a nitrous tune is typically two sets of maps. You need to do a baseline motor map first (fuel and timing preferably) and then do the nitrous map adding fuel and pulling timing if needed. For this extra work, some tuners understandably charge extra.

A leakdown can tell you if you have a bent, burnt, or leaking valve, or a pinched ring land. Other typical nitrous abuse thats harder to see without a tear down is piston detonation, rod bearing abuse and roundness, and wrist pin galling (all caused by detonation). The GenII OEM wrist pins are smaller, and may be more succeptable to this. Not sure.

Not sure if the system is wet or dry. If dry it may have one or more jets in the airbox. Locate the jets, and tell us the size of the jets. For 1000 psi, this is what to expect for a given N2O jet.

Jet # HP/Jet
15 7.5
20 15
23 18
24 20
25 22.5
26 25

A wet system ported directly into the cylinder head will have 4 injectors under the gas tank. Each injector will have a fuel line and a N2O line if its a wet system. Unscrew the fitting holding the nitrous line, and under the fitting will be a jet with a small number stamped on it. For example a #20 jet is 0.020" diameter, and is worth 15HP x 4 injectors = 60 HP system (very common setup).

I would ASSume from what you said that you have #20 nitrous jets in your fogger nozzles. What size are the fuel jets?

Keep in mind that different outside temps will cause flucuations in the "tune" of the nitrous, i.e., the hotter the bottle, the higher the pressure - hence more nitrous as opposed to fuel. That is why successful nitrous pilots pay close attention to bottle pressure. Do you have a pressure gauge on the bottle? Consider running a pressure-controlled bottle heater that keeps your bottle at a consistent pressure. Get the bike dyno-tuned, get the nitrous itself dyno-tuned as well. Find out what the A/F is when you hit the nitrous. Make sure you have at least -2 degrees pulled when the nitrous is used!

does that bike have a pc3 with ignition module or bazazz, etc?

you need to be able to tune fuel and ignition timing.... with the wet system you can also change jets.

does it have a progressive controller to ramp the NOS injection?

it looks like your fuel pump wires... when you turn your key your pump does not prime does it? just grab a new plug and rewire it. they may have wired the nos kit into it witout using a relay and melted the wires, but who knows witout going thru the entire system.

Withous seeing better pictures, I'm guessing that the stainless braided hose rubbed against the wiring until it rubbed through the wire's protective sheith. Then the wire would have touched the stainless brided hose causing the wire to ground out or arc or most likely both.

I found someone that will check the wires and am hopeing thats the only problems this busa has. But anyways still haven't found anyone that does nitrous yet.

So if you know anyone in the southern colorado area or Colorado Springs that does nos on motorcycles please speak up
