Bluto, that is the correct drain plug size for a 2001 also...without a dime. :) I used a #3 screw driver to keep things from moving during the loosening process.
Re: new supersprox, cush bushings & chain installed...thanks jwest, chrisjp, & sponso
Denon, nice looking bike! I did a search on my name and came across your thread. Glad it worked out for you.
Like many have said go back to stock before you start your spirited rides in the curves. Work on your sag adjustments to stiffen the suspension. This will help to keep parts from dragging but if you are a heavy rider and/or can get the bike leaned over pretty well it is inevitable. After...
Brought this one back from long ago.
Great performance tire for the road. The only thing I didn't like about it was that I only gave me 2,500 miles before the rear needed to be changed. A product due to a heavy bike plus a heavy rider. Also that was not just from center wear either since...
Back from the dead. To see what bolt it was to remove the hub.
mcbusaturbo, I did have a torque wrench but with exhaust headers in the way and using an extension the wrench didn't give like it should have and snapped the bolt. This was all to remove the bracket that mounts the air pump...
For the second question there are two hoses from the pump. I larger hose from the bottom of the pump to the airbox and a small hose from the top of the pump is a vacuum line to the throttle body. Remove the lines and cap both locations.
Instead of guessing I just checked and M8 crankcase bolts get two passes 9.5 lbs the first pass and then 19 lbs on the final. There is a sequense to them all so removing/reinstalling just the two could cause an issue but doubt it since my situation didn't cause any issues.
Anyway, you are...
Those bolts that hold the bracket go through and hold the crankcase to the cylinder head so don't leave them out!
I wish I left my bracket in. I removed the bolts and I did get a tad bit of oil from one of the bolts holes. When reinstalling the bolts I was torquing the bolts to 18ft lbs (I...
I am way up north in Misawa. I lucked out with my 2001 and didn't have to head south to Tokyo for homoligation. Roads are awesome here but we can't ride for 4 months. Bikes are ridiculous when it comes to price around here also. I have seen some Japanese spec gen 2's running around off base...
I did my 2001 at the begining of last year. 2002-2007 stator hub and ECU is all you need...and maybe a gasket for the stator cover. If you want to reflash the ECU Greg is your friend (check boostbysmith add on this site).
Search this site and the other .org site for information. Good luck.
Correct, the factory originals are .85kg's and I am replacing them with 1.1kg's. I am a larger guy and I need to stiffen it up. This is also why I added more preload to the rear spring. This is all in an attempt to keep parts of the bike off the road during a turn. :)
Here is my follow on post.
I have looked at the manual and see the mention of turning the screws clockwise until they stop. I guess this would be the reference and then turn them back counterclockwise 7 clicks for the top and 10 for the bottom? If this is the case, Jinkster's settings are...
I posted this under Jinkster's thread but I have yet to get a response so will start a new one.
I have a question on the rear shock and what is quoted above. What is meant by 10 clicks "out" and 7 clicks "out"? I see "S-H" over the top of each screw which I guess would mean soft and hard?
If...
