November 29, 2017. Later on. I got it. I was using the wrong snap ring to hold the plunger in the retracted position. The "Outside" snap ring has to be used and I was using the inside one. All is well now and assembly is underway.

Thank you. I couldn't find this post and made a new, please ignore it. I usually get new parts but used is good for certain items. I'll try Honda East for my next batch of new parts and see how it goes.

Thank you for the response. Do you mean total disconnect or jump it direct? One thing I forgot to do was to actual side stand put down when in gear. It's on the bench now with the switch in the vice.
