Trying to save money on maintenance this year so i made a Wheel Balancer.
Most of the parts were donated.

The main frame is made of Unistrut. Is used mostly for electrical installations.
It is a very versatile system.

The mandrel is 1/2 drill rod and Nylon cones.

I am planning a changer next.

:poke: if you brake off the springs from the channel nuts...it will all slid together and back apart again very easily...I have worked with miles of uni-strut hanging 800# speakers in purdue (ross aid) stadium, war memorial collisium and 100s of other locations

oh and nice job btw....now if you use the sticky wieght...you can figure out where you need them, u can break the bead lose on one side of the tire and put wieght inside the rim so you dont have to see them....then air it back up...

on a side note: who is the girl? looks to young to be your wife.....

The cones where made by a buddy at a local shop...

They are an " interferance fit"

The profile of the cone was machined first , then bored...
the small end provided a unsupported diameter and flexed when bored at 1/2"
leaving an interferance fit... works very well.... for now.....will provide set screw if needed..

finished the Bead Braker today.

Old Galv. pipe
2 feet of 3 inch channel
2 1/2 bolts
Old cutting board{I asked :laugh:}
6 1/4 20 flat head screaws and nuts
2 3 1/2 inch lag screw for wall mounting in garage
12 dollar build cost this time.

That will work well.
Made one myself something like it.
If you make a frame like this, it will take any stress off the disc (won't touch the ground)

Had a plan with 2x4 and 4x4 frame with foam.... likely your idea with carpet.

couple layers of plywood under?

Bead breaker and Balancer worked great. NEW sticky rubber... love that smell..

Tekfuel that setup is just as good as any store bought balancer I've ever seen. Nice job of the layout.

PS..Wardie made it to his 1,000 post
