Replaced Spark Plugs Today, Need Help Getting Air Filter Housing Flush

I replaced the spark plugs today, really a lot easier than I anticipated. Once I was done I started putting everything back on, and it seems no matter how hard I try I can't get the two inner air filter housing ports flush with their respective throttle body ports.

They're on, but they aren't even close to being flush.

I could sure use some help.

Put a little water soluble lubricant (like KY) on the inside of the rubber and they will slide right down.
Don't use petroleum anything, it will hurt the rubber.
