Way to go Jules Â* Â* Â*

Yea, a while back I found a picture of what the inside of your heart looks like from high Cholesterol. Â*NOT pretty. Â*Most of the time, I just think about that and it helps. Â*But you know when hormones start talking and you want Chocolate, the only thing to do is have some. Â*Just watch the quanity.

Thanks for the tobacco recall. Â*Yuck. Â*

Good luck ladies.
Nope.. NO chocolate.... I feel like a crack addict.. I can't just have a LITTLE chocolate.. so it's NO MOE FO ME.

The cholesterol thing hit me becasue I've always been so proud of the fact that I have SUPER LOW blood pressure and my blood work always came back good... because the rest of my family are walking heart attacks... artherosclerosis, strokes, heart attacks, pulmonary disease, elephantitis of the heart, you name it they've got it... but they all also smoke like trains and eat all sorts of junk food.

I've usually eaten pretty good food... just too much of it... and I've never smoked... so I thought I would be in the clear.. guess not So now it's me and my BFF Treadmill.... since I don't have any fat friends to work out with... heck I don't have friends period.
Good for you. Keep up the good work. My family is the same way. Except I am part of that crowd trying to break free. My cholesterol has been over 200 since my early 20's. Last year it was at its highest 257 and had some weight loss. This year I gained 30 lbs and my Cholesterol is 233. Oh well. I will just keep plugging along. I am sure everything will get back to where it should be if I don't give up.

You gals are doing great!!!

I haven't chimed in because I have been ashamed of myself for eating so terribly these last couple of days. Yesterday I was like a crazy woman attacking a couple of Krispy Kreme do-nuts. I couldn't stop myself!

I have to second Diana...it has been 100+ degrees here daily for months! When it is that hot and humid outside it is miserable to go outside and breathe the air, let alone want to exert yourself!

I am very lazy....that does not help one bit!!

Same here....however, I have Jess emailing me almost daily to check in. So I can't avoid all of you! LOL. I thought I did good yesterday, but I guess not. I had my usual coffee (weaning yourself off coffee is harder than it looks) with a snack baggie of granola cereal - no milk. I had my water sometime after that. For lunch I had my Lean Cuisine pizza with half a bottle of Mango Snapple. More water later. My friend treated me to dinner....a baked scallop plate with mashed potato (which I only had a few bites of). Unfortunately I had a mixed drink (too much sugar). Considering that I usually have too much carbs with my meals I thought I did pretty good. I was told otherwise.... Baby steps I say.

I really need help cutting out the soda habit!!

I'm Kristin and I'm a soda addict!

If I keep it down to 4 - 5 Diet Dr. Pepper or Cherry Pepsi's a day, I am being a good girl!! Mind you, that is with a two or three cup a day coffee habit! In the morning people just stare at me like some sort of freak with a diet soda in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other. I won't even get into the mornings that I am balancing a sugar free Red Bull on top of the soda can!

My problem is when trying to cut out the sodas the caffienne headaches KILL ME! I already am on prophalaxysis for migraines..Topamax is AMAZING stuff! I have been fighting tension headaches at work now, so I could not imagine caffiene headaches on top of all that. To add insult to injury, I desperately NEED the water for my pesky kidney stone problem!

How did y'all cut the sodas, deal with the caffiene headaches, and then find the water palatable

I'm in! I need to lose about 40 lbs. I started my " life style change" last Monday and already lost 5 lbs, that's even with out exercise!

Exercise will start this Monday....I'm easing my self into this...LOL

No more excuses for me. I have so many cute clothes that I can't fit into any more and it makes me really mad that I let myself go.

So here's to us....Soon to be fit women of the .org

For me I started weening myself from SODA by drinking Vitamin water.. I know.. still a lot of sugar.. but it is thinner and more "water-like".

Then I started WATERING down vitamin water... yeah.. I'm a freak. (you can do this with kool aid or powerade too).

I also found out I like Lipton Green Tea... but not the bottled kind you can buy.. instead I like it when you get the little packets and dissolve it in a bottle of water.... you can find those packets (I like the Green tea with Citrus) in the Tea section of grocery stores. I'd even drink half of this and fill it back up with tap water (I have DELICIOUS tasting well-water here) and dilute it.

All of this got me drinking a lot more water at home and I would FORCE myself to get water when we went out or through the drive thru. Now it's just natural . Now I take one swig of soda and gag.... it feels like I am drinking pancake syrup. (this is also a good imagined visual similar to my liver and tobacco spit technique)

I never had the caffeine headaches (and I had given up morning coffee when I started driving the Bus in January becasue it was too bouncy to drink coffee).. I was dealing with chocolate/ sugar withdrawls at the same time though. There were days I just forced myself to carry on... took a nap at my desk with the lights off at lunch time when my head was pounding. Or got on the org to take my mind off of it.

Now my husband and I both have these HUGE cups we constantly fill with Ice and water and keep on the coffee table of in front of us at all times... mine is sitting here in front of me at my desk in our office....

Milk was actually one of the hardest things for me to cut back on drinking so much of.... but the economy kinda solved that for me!(I am forced to make Half a gallon last all week... and I LOVE cereal)

I never had a hard time cutting sodas because I got pregnant. When I was pregnant with Anastasia I had gestational diabetes. The testing that they do for that was enough for me to start cutting soda. The flavor I had was orange, so it was like drinking flat orange soda without the carbonation. I do still drink it, but I try to drink Crystal Light, water, and juice. Someone told me that green tea will help lose the weight in those hard to lose areas like the tummy.

We are sitting here discussing caffiene and I am thinking to myself how nice a hot Starbuck's White Chocolate Mocha would be. And I am more worried about the caffiene than all the fat & calories...LoL!

That's my favorite Starbucks drink! LOL

99' can join us in discussion if he likes....I don't mind. Don't think anyone else does either?

Heck, if an admin wants to move this he/she can, but figured it was less likely to be in here. I want this to be serious changes and discussion for us all.

By the way, you'd all be proud. I ditched my usual caffinated / alcoholic beverage for an ice tea unsweetened tonight at dinner!

Way to go, Dawn! Keep it up.

I have such a high caffeine tolerance that I can drink coffee in bed and still go to sleep. My doctor has told me to keep it under 10 servings/day which is honestly hard for me. But I can go down to 1 cup of coffee/day and not have a headache.

Anyway, yesterday was okay food-wise. Dan and I go our first tattos yesterday and ate lightly since we didn't know how we'd react and didn't want to yak in the chair. Then on the way home we stopped at Whataburger and all I got was a soda - not the best thing but I didn't have a big a$$ burger.

Thank you Lady Di.

Whataburger is my fav! I love their onion rings! When I went back home I think I ate there 3 times in 5 days...LOL.

So what have y'all done to change your daily intake of food? (not gonna call it a diet). I'm doing the low carb method, Atkins. It's the only thing I have found that works for me.

I've done it before with great success but fell of the wagon about 3yrs ago and never got back on. I'm gonna do it this time though....I really need to shed my body of this lipid stuff.

With all that said, it's time for breakfast. Bacon and Eggs with a lil salsa on the side!

I wanna look like this again.....if it's possible.

Wow,Dawn! I can't do the Atkins thing, so I think I'm going to go with the low-iodine diet I had to follow for my thyroid treatment. No iodized salt, nothing from the ocean (including sea salt), no processed breads, 4 oz of meat per day, no soy and no dairy. Basically, nothing processed because everything has either salt or soy in it. Since manufacturers don't have to declare iodized salt, it's better to assume it is. But lots of veggies. I'm going to change up a bit and add some dairy in so I can have yogurt for breakfast. Dan lost 7 lbs in the first week we did this (he followed the entire month I was on it to support me). I lost nothing because, well, it was after my thyroid was removed and I couldn't take any or my replacement meds. We'll see how it goes.

No diet for me... Eating smaller portions, eating slower, and stopping when I am full.... I still eat oatmeal iced cookies and pasta and meatballs... just not SO MUCH of it.

Atkins turns me into a RAGING BEEOTCH (as if I'm not already one) and people would rather see me fat than put up with me on Atkins. I know my sis in law and bro in law can drop like 30lbs in 2 weeks on Atkins... for me it never worked that well so it just pi55ed me off.

I used to do Nutrisystem... but got burnt out on the foods and CRAVED REAL food. Now I don't deprive myself... I just watch how much goes in my mouth... and the whole Grossing myself out tactic has worked pretty well too.

ty ladies. I will behave I promise

today I had french toast made with whole grain white bread, egg (of coarse),and cinnamon. About 100 cal. a slice. I had 2 slices w/ NO syrup.

I'm shooting for 6 sm. meals a day. That raises your metabolism.

They say a habit takes 30 days and I'm trying to start running again but am dreeding it. SOO I'm getting on the treadmill EVERYday even if it's for only 5 min. just to start the habit and worry about how long I'm on it LATER.

Do you have an IPOD? Go to Itunes and look for the PodCast called Couch to 5K by Robert Ullrey ... even if you have no intention of running a 5K, it is a good training program to get you running 3 miles a day.

try this URL.. www.ullreys.com/robert/Podcasts/page4/files/rss.xml or you can just download it through ITunes.. it's free

Green tea is the best....I mix Lipton green tea (decaf) and Lipton green tea with lemon ginseng. I make a big pitcher and drink it every day. YUM

I'm starting on my elliptical tomorrow. Before I got lazy I did 40 minutes a day....but think I just better start out at 20 minutes then do some yoga and/or strength training.

Wonder if I can down load the podcast to my zune?
