Money is getting tight at our home.. wondering if any of you have ideas for extra income? I'm not able to do manual work, or else I'd go back to part time cake decorating at a local store. (I loved that job.. it was actually quite fun)

I'm thinking something like an online store, or using a dropshipper and ebay...I don't know. Maybe a flea market booth, but then what to sell? And there goes my weekends.

Try Ebay. Â*Start with stuff in your own house. Â*My FIL's girlfriend sells things on ebay. Â*Baby/kids cloths do pretty good for her. Â*Are you crafty at all? Â*Turn your house into a bed and breakfast type place. Â*Do you have any bulb or rhizome type flowers. Â*Thin them out and sell the extra bulbs. Â*I know those are out there kind of ideas, but maybe it will help you find something. Scrapbooking. Â*Creating photo Albums or pages for people to just insert picture. Â*OH well hope some of this helps. Â*

Good Luck in whatever you find to do. Â*

I do reward programs on line.

MyPoints - you get points for clicking on links in eamils, Takes a while to build up enough for a gift card but hey it's free! you also get points for shopping at online stores like Target, pet stores...all kinds of places.
www.mypoints.com

I also do surveys.
KnowledgeNetworks is a good one. I usually get 1000 pts for a survey. you can get cash from this one. I wait till I have 50k pts then cash it in for 50 bux. They send me surveys about 2 or 3 times a week and are quick to send you your check!

Starting a home-based business is hard! I've had my jewelry business for a little over 2 years and still don't have much of a following - my best customer is my boss. That's because I really don't have much time to do a lot of promotion. Ebay can be tough, too, because it's sooooo big and there's so much to dig through.

Farmer's Markets and flea markets are a good option. The stall fees usually aren't too bad, but there will be some monetary investment needed.

If you make something, my online shop is in a handmade only venue called Etsy (etsy.com). But like Ebay, it's getting so big that it's easy to get buried.

If you've done cake decorating, I'm betting you have good artistic skills, so that's an option.

With any business, there are those nagging little things to consider: how do I figure pricing, do I need a sales tax number, what forms of payment to accept, etc.

I'm no expert, but I do have some experience to share. Send a PM if you have any questions.

How do you sign up with KNowledgeNetworks?
I didn't see anywhere to do that...

Thanks for the tips!

Don't you find the difference in topics between the Ladies' Lair and the rest of the org interesting? I mean, we're spread across the country but we all have such similar challenges - making ends meet, groceries, etc.

The networking is fabulous. The different tips and tricks we've found.

Ah, the internet...

Yeah, our husbands are spending it faster than we can save it!

I started my own business with The Pampered Chef. I'm an Independent Consultant. Alot of people say "oh not one of those pyramid scams", but it really isn't like that. Although I can see why people would look at it that way. I was recruited by someone who was recruited by someone.....and so on. However, you don't have to be recruited to join the company.

Because of policies that I do have to follow I can't give too much detail over the internet...if anyone is ever interested, just PM me. I'd be happy to show you one of my pay stubs....good money in little time.

However, I've also tried my hand at knitting. I knitted enough scarves to cover a table at a yard sale/flea market table. Made a little money there.

If I think of anything else I'll post it up.....I'm always coming up with ideas, but never actually put them to use.

As far as making things like accessories, take custom orders. If it's a hobby you're doing already, set a price for something and offer it as a custom gift for people.

I clean out our closets and put things on Ebay.... Darrell is beginning to wonder why he only has 5 shirts and 5 pairs of shorts... "where did all my clothes go?"

But seriously I've made about $300 over 3 months doing that. It will start up again over the summer when I get more pictures taken and all.

Keep the ideas coming ladies.... teaching pays okay.. but a little extra money around here might let us have a kid one day!

I know what you mean. My job pays well and I've got good benefits and great intangibles, but with prices like they are right now, unless we want to change our life-style, we need more money.

Angela - do you make very good money with Pampered Chef? I'd like to team up with a consultant and combine my jewelry with their home demos. I think you told us this, but can we order from you online?

There's your niche'! I can see it now... Husband for hire. He can be rented out by elderly ladies or single women who need a handyman...For example... yardwork, fixing odd jobs around the house, basically Honey, Do List. Hmmmm... my Colen (semi) is off every other week.

Jewlery huh... Do you have any pics? I think I may have some ideas... I wanna see what kind of jewelry you make. There might be a lot of interest here. Especially all the guys on here may want to get something for their better halves..... (hint hint, wink wink)

Wow, Jyn, thanks!

Why, yes, I do have pics. Actually a whole online shop.

cubicleboutique.etsy.com

I have more stuff that I have listed here but just haven't listed it. Org members would get a discount.
