Just came across this. By my calculations the Original Cycle world Busa test at 194mph edges this thing by the slightest of margins! How long will the 300Km/h ban last now that Manufacturers are pulling out the stops?
194mph=312.2127Km/h

A freind of mine has one {black}, very nice cycle, he was going to buy a GSXR1000 and bling it out, but he ended up just buying that and he's gonna keep it stock {ends up being the same money}. But anyway he had to travel about 5 hours to get it and it had some scratches {which they said was normal, but knocked off a couple bucks}..
But anyway I drove it and I would have to say its faster than a stock Busa, BUT it doesnt have that bottom end torque, its lighter and revvy but the bottom feels tinny like a 2 stroke dirt bike....
Still; I would say its faster than a 14 or busa, but not violoently faster, just a little faster....

as allways the bar is getting raised. suzuki can not set on its laurels and think the others will not come and take the crown. which the 14 has done ever so slightly right now. maybe even this bike, even so its a good thing, making the technology move forward again after suzuki blowed the world away with the invent of the busa.

It's all about marketing. If they let Kawi build a faster bike, then the 'kawi beater' will be in higher demand if/when they build it.

Busa was on top, so the next big thing is the busa beater (ie the 14), which MV is now after. Hell, the gsxr1k isn't far off from that mark, either.

Some food for thought, though. We're rolling with technology that's 8 years older than the 14, and the rest of the world is finally catching up...

It is my understanding that the 186.4mph (300kmh) limit wasn't a ban, but an agreement between the "Big 4".

It's not a ban, it's an agreement that I believe was a reaction to the '99 Busa's top speed of about 194 mph. *I think the limit is 300 kph, or about 186 mph.

And I think the world's fastest production bike--even though it costs $65K--is the Ducati Desmosedici RR, which is basically a detuned version of their MotoGP bike.

FASTEST, well just what does that mean. Fastest Top Speed, really doesn't matter on the street. Of course Harley has an Ad that claimes they are the fastest ( ) in the street acceleration mode (whatever that is ) , and others are fastest in 1/4 or 1/2 mile or even the 60 foot mark. And that doesn't even include the 0 to whatever ads. So, really it's just a marketing tool and no more, cause really, how many of us can ride a bike on the street that does 8 sec 1/4 mile times or can run at a true 160 mph without killing ourselves on the street. My opinion, NOT MANY, and probably NONE *

And "OH" Yea, being an Itallian Bike owner for YEARS, Scratches ARE NOT INCLUDED !!! Your friend got had by the dealer ! And that was just wrong, one reason MV and Aprillia have really BAD reps here *

Weren't the Desmocedici's clocked at something ridiculous like 223mph or something like that at one of the GP's?

Makes me feel like a cheap SOB for getting a bargain basement priced 1098 for $17K

I was under the impression that they made the agreement after they were told by the Europeans that if they didn't limit them to 300km, they wouldn't be able to sell them over there.
