For a long time I have read here and elsewhere that the Hayabusa factory rear tire measures out to 198.0 millimeters .

Not so .

190/50/17 Bridgestone BT56 OEM = 187.96 mm

Get these though .

Dunlop Qualifier

190/50/17 195.326
200/50/17 195.834

Bridgestone BT014

190/50/17 standard replacement 187.96
200/50/17 195.58
190/50/17 2004 CBR1000RR 195.58

Michelin Pilot Power

190/50/17 195.326
200/50/17 Sport HPX 195.834

The dual compound Pilot Power 2CT is not being brought into the states this year for some reason so no sizing

That’s strange we have always been told that the OME 56 is 198mm.

The Bridgestone and Dunlop measurements were on their respective websites . I called Michelin to get their specs .

What got me wondering as to how much difference there actually was between tires is when we had two ZX-9R's parked side to side , one with a Dunlop 208 - 190 rear , the other with the Pilot Power 190 .

The Dunlop looked more like a 180 in comparison so i got to poking around

I know when i went up to a 200 in the back from stock, that it looked a alot wider than 2mm.

When at the dealer, gotta say that the Gixxer 1000's rear tire looked much wider than the 'Busa's. Maybe because it's more exposed by the high tail-end?

Wrong, factory OEM BT56 "J" will measure out to 198mils. Big difference between the J and Non J spec rear OEM tires.

True Story.

Bridgestone and Dunlop make a standard and Hayabusa spec tire for the rear. I'd say those are the normal everyday tires for the lesser bikes.

I just go by what Bridgestone says their tire widths are . They only make one 190 BT56 and it is the " J " spec with hayabusa listed out to the side for both front and rear sizes .

I thought it looked smaller that the Pilot 190 does . Probably why the 200's on the Busa's look larger even though they are not true 200's ...except that one BT020 .

Here you go , " J " spec BT56 . 7.4 inches wide = 187.96mm

It won't direct link though .

Here's the chart from that link.

It says tread width... not sure if that is the same thing as tire width.
