Got off the bike today and noticed overflow was empty nada . Came back out after bike cooled off and coolant was at upper end off full slash mark on overflow! So is this normal? I would think like a car it would only pull some fluid if it needed it not all of it.

I think we need a standardized form around here to be used when someone is looking for a diagnosis. You know, like that form at the doctor's office that asks about your history of illness, surgery, prescriptions... We need to know about your bike.

So tell us about it. Gen I or II? Modifications? Big bore kit? Forced induction? Anything like that?

Gen 1 05 model. Have full exhaust and PC III other then that it's stock! I'm not loosing coolant cause it all comes back to upper high level mark. Bike runs great and temp gauge stays right in the middle.

I'm no Gen I coolant specialist by any stretch, but the people who are would've come in with those questions anyway. Any chance you've got air in the system?

Now that I think of it I may have looked at the overflow after I put it on the rear stand! Not sure how much that would affect the level in overflow though since the system is under pressure!

Pressure won't matter in where the coolant is. Normal would be for the level in the overflow to be more when warm as the coolant expands due to heat. It would then slowly go down as the bike cools off. Be sure you are checking under the same conditions and that empty really is empty. I know on one of my Busas I had to take the side fairing off to see the coolant level. It looked empty no matter how hard I tried to see it with a flashlight, no flashlight, etc. It wasn't empty when cold, was normal.
