does the gen 1 ecu work with 2001

Ive been reading the ecu editor thread got through alot of pages of it but didnt see if anyone knew if earlier models could be flashed as well ?

ECU Flashing this site says 2002-2007 just wondering if maybe i was overlooking something , I know there is alot of this subject but your help would be appreciated.lease:

1999-2001 had a different ECU.

2001 has a 16 bit ECU; 02 and newer has 32
